AirPort Express Base Station with 802.11n
Product No Longer Available
For Airtunes, how does AirPort Express work with only a Wireless DSL modem (no router)?
I have a DSL wireless modem in the basement. My PC and laptop connect to it wireless upstairs. I want to use the Airport Express to listen to Itunes from the PC on my living room speakers. How do I set that up? Do I have to buy a router to connect to the DSL modem and then install he Airport Express in my living room to plug into my stereo?

If you have wireless internet in your house, it seems that the equipment you're calling a modem is probably a modem/router combo. If that's the case, then it would simply be a matter of setting up the Airport Express to join your existing wireless network in "client mode".
This basically just means that the AP Express will not be acting as a router (its primary function), but instead will just be offering up its 'services' (wireless music/printing) as a part of your already-existing network.
Check out the Apple Support pages, and type HT1731 into the search bar for an explanation of how to set this up.- Answered by Jackson T from Peterborough
