Excuse my ignorance, but do i put my entire iPhoto library on there and run it through the hard drive, or is it only used to backup photos?

    My recommendation is that you leave the iPhoto library on your internal disk (laptop or desktop) and then use Intego Backup Manager (which comes with the drive) to synchronise your iPhoto library to the LaCie disk. You can run the synchronisation manually or set it to run, say, once a day. That way if you delete a photograph or make a mess of editing it you can get it from the copy on the LaCie disk.
