will this set work with the i-Pad with retina display or do I need to purchase, in addition a converter from the 30 pin to the lightning connection

It says right in the description of the kit - Please note. To use this kit with devices that use a Lightning connector — such as iPhone 5, iPad mini, and iPad with Retina display — you will need a Lightning to USB Cable, sold separately.
