Okay, this thing is so cool I wrote a review.
I was honestly skeptical after I bought (and tried to but couldn't return) the other iphone remote that looks like a piece of frui t. First of all this thing flat out works. Holding down volume up changes the volume on my receiver just as fast if not slightly faster than the remote it came with. It's super responsive which was surprising as the other iPhone based universal remotes I've tried had a very noticeable lag on button presses. The remote range is pretty crazy as I put it way up on a bookshelf so my baby can't get to it and it still works great. It also doesn't look like a wobbly piece of fruit. The app is very slick and does everything my old trusty harmony 880 could do. But it can post to my facebook when i find a show I am digging. Built in tv guide thats better than the one on my directv. It even has little activities like "Watch Netflix" which automatically set up my whole system at the touch of a button. Best of all it supports gestures. So I can change volume by sliding two fingers up and down. My friends are amazed when thy see I can control my whole home theater from my phone! I love it 5 stars! …

The product does everything it says. I like it.

Good product,but the APP needs some improvement.
The product works great and is easy to hide in the room. The only issue I have found with it is the Beacon's ability to learn som e remote functions. You have to position the the remote in front of the unit just right to custom program some remote functions. The problem seems to be in the APP software and hopefully it will be fixed shortly. These issues aside, it is a good product and does not have any wires to clutter things up. I would recommend it over the others that are out now. I am sure these software issues will be resolved soon, as it is a new product. …

Didn't work with foxtel or even apple TV!
Failed to work with a new standard issue Foxtel iQ remote (its listings didn't include my remote), and it wouldn't learn the butto ns.
Learning abilities are pretty lame, multiple tries from countless different angles are required to get it to learn even one button, multiple buttons try your patience.
The icing on the cake was when the listing for the Apple TV remote didn't work, and it wouldn't learn all the buttons. Bear in mind that the Beacon is sold on Apple's website, requires an iOS device, yet it couldn't manage to sort out a simple Apple TV remote!
Onkyo receiver and LG TV were in its listing and worked using its remote wizard, but the point of a universal remote is that it replaces all your remotes, not 2 out of 4.

Bluetooth Is Bad
I use my iPhone with my beacon and every time I leave my room I have to reconnect it when I return, may as well just use a control ler, worth about £20 but certainly not more than £40. In summary; okay but not great. …

Difficult to set codes for tv
It was impossible to find a set of working codes for a Sony Tv and a Sony Dvd/harddisk recorder. The SW search and test function may be OK in some cases, but leaves no clue if you are near to a solution to other functions than on/off volume and chanel select. This may be enough on a TV (?) but a HD recorder needs other complex functionality. …

No. Bose use RF to transmit remote codes. The beacon uses IR.

Not sure about Foxtel, but I tossed my Beacon. It is slow and unresponsive (especially with the XBOX ). And going through 4 AA batteries about every 2 weeks really blew! The customizable layouts and everything are sweet, but functionality is pitiful. Customer service closed my support request saying "If you are having intermittent use, try turning all the lights off, it works better in low light situations." What a crock!
