Stunning is an understatement.
A bigger display for your biggest ideas.
Connect your Mac with Mini DisplayPort to the LED Cinema Display for a panoramic viewing experience unlike any other. You get a huge 27-inch widescreen display with a cinematic 16:9 aspect ratio and an astonishing 2560-by-1440 resolution. And its glossy finish shows off graphics, photos and video in rich colours and deep blacks.
Works with every new Mac.
You can connect your LED Cinema Display to any of the current lineup of Mac notebooks and desktops: MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Mac mini and Mac Pro.
Built-in conveniences.
With a built-in iSight camera, microphone, 2.1 speaker system and USB hub, the LED Cinema Display keeps your desktop clutter free. Have video conferences with your notebook closed. Listen to music without headphones. And leave your USB peripherals connected to the display for quick get-up-and-go productivity. You can also connect your Mac Pro or Mac mini with Mini DisplayPort and instantly enjoy these convenient video and audio features.
The LED advantage.
LEDs are solid-state light sources that are an ideal complement to digital LCDs. They light up quickly, which means you experience full-screen brightness the moment you connect your LED Cinema Display to your system. And LEDs are completely mercury-free.
MagSafe connector.
The LED Cinema Display is the perfect companion for your Mac notebook because it includes a convenient universal MagSafe connector that powers and charges your Mac when you’re at your home, office, or student halls. You can leave your notebook power adaptor in your bag, ready to hit the road.
Connect via Mini DisplayPort.
The LED Cinema Display attaches to your Mac using the industry-standard Mini DisplayPort connector. Other display connectors have you lining up pins or fumbling with screws. The Mini DisplayPort connector is easy in, easy out.
Green design.
The LED Cinema Display features mercury-free LED backlight technology and arsenic-free glass. The display is also free of BFRs and PVCs in all cables and components. In addition, the glass and aluminium construction makes the display highly recyclable, so its raw materials can be used in other products.

The Curse of the Gloss
Why, O why does apple keep tormenting designers with these awesome displays with glossy screen? Designers and photographers thrive on detail. We need to be able to detect the slimmest of value shifts and for this reason alone I have to rate this as a 3 star product. While working on these glossy screens I find my self shadow boxing with my own reflection as I shift and dodge to see past the glare into what I am looking at.
This is an awesome monitor, but unless your ambient lighting conditions are perfect it causes pain and irritation. I love that it seamlessly links to my macbook pro and the size is just perfect. But the glare, I hate the glare!
Give us an antiglare option please! …- Written by David J from Star

Nice display but glossy reflections make it unusable for me
Apple has become so enamored of glossy displays that they've forgotten that in many home and office environments the glossy surfac e renders them a mirror, making the whole point of owning such a large, beautiful display moot.
So unless you mind working in very indirect light or with the lights turned way down low, try and find yourself a store that still has a 30" Cinema Display in stock, or hope that as they did with the MacBook Pros, they eventually realize there are a lot of users who still require an anti-glare display.
I gave it two stars because if you CAN minimize reflection from ambient light, it really IS a good looking display. …- Written by William K from Louisville

Glossy mirror and lack of inputs
If you don't want to use plastics for environmental reasons Apple, there are glare-free glass options out there too. This is a gi ant mirror unless you have the perfect lighting conditions. Really fatiguing over the course of a day to continually have to force your focus from all the reflections.
And no HDMI either? This thing is the size of a TV, and I would like it to serve as one when I am not using it as a computer monitor. Would love to be able to plug in a blu-ray or my HD Receiver into this thing too. Would be acceptable if Apple supported blu-ray in its Mac line. Unfortunately, the Dell Ultra-Sharp has to complement my Mac this time around. A travesty. But it is matt, with tons of inputs. …- Written by Jeff I from WALTON

Cracking display, good at everything.
Produces the best quality picture I have seen on any computer display. A joy to use either for serious work or watching Dr Who in HD on iplayer.
The unit is cool to the touch after running all day long. Eye strain has been greatly reduced over my past screen on an old Mac.
The good looking, easy clean, gloss display can reflect so you have to be careful of the lighting in the room you use the display in. …- Written by Tony N from Stranraer

$800 repair just out of warranty
I purchased this display only to have the LED quit working just after it went out of warranty. I have purchased $200 monitors tha t lasted for years and years. I believe that a $1,000 monitor should last for more than three years. By the way, I really liked the monitor while it worked. …

Purple line showed up in the middle of the screen
Got mine December 2011.
Loved it until the other day a thin vertical line appeared out of nowhere the other day.
it is at apple now and according to them it could either be the Board or the display which is around $130 vs $850 and i'm still waiting to find out.
but if it the display i will be very angry as this monitor never moved from the the same spot in my edit room. i would expect a $1000 monitor to work for more then 2 years …- Written by Guy J from Fort Lee

Yes, the Atlona AT-MDP21 2X1 Mini Display Port KVM Switch (Powerless) works great for me. I use it with a Mac Mini (server) and a Mac Pro 8 core hooked up to a 27" apple LED display using only mimi display port cables. I have a new 27: and an older one and it works great with both. Hope this helps, I had a lot of people tell me that there was no such device as well. …
