The bluetooth is flakey - you can't rely on it connecting. And sometimes reinstalling the app is the only way to repair the device.
It drops out while you are using it - or takes time to start capturing and misses the beginning of what you are writing.
Often the capture is so bad with added noise from 'strokes' recorded when the pen is in the air between letters words or lines that the result is unreadable and the character recognition worthless.
Post-production - exporting, correcting, merging, tagging, organising - is also difficult and unreliable.
The documentation is incomplete and poor - basic tasks like selecting multiple snippets not explained clearly. …

I use an AppleTV device to mirror my iPad onto the electronic whiteboard then open the app and proceed to use the pen at the back of the class to show my students what I would like them to do via the notebook. Great product… but!

I use it mainly to record client notes and post them as PDFs to my client folders. The whole process is significantly easier than the previous Interface which I never fully mastered. Also, being able to e-mail file notes to my client at the end of meetings in just a few steps directly from my iPhone saves me time and impresses the client.
Bluetooth was initially a little problematic however it appears that the problem is resolved by ensuring you fully close and reopen the app at the start of each session.
Extending the ink cartridge to start the pen is a great design improvement as it insures everything you write is recorded (unlike the pulse where I'd sometimes forget to turn it on). Unfortunately, there is a cheap plastic feel to the Pen and I seem to be forever loosing the USB end cap after charging.

Works but not for me
I have been looking for a solution for some time now that allows me to take notes in meetings, store those notes in a central repo I have been looking for a solution for some time now that allows me to take notes in meetings, store those notes in a central repository (in the cloud) and make them text searchable.
The Livescribe 3 seemed the perfect answer but it turns out that it isn't and doesn't suit my way of working. I have now placed the Pen on ebay to get some of my money back.
Of the 3 issues below, the first one is the main reason why I this pen was no good for me.
1). My handwriting must be poor as I was not able to get it converted (accurately enough) to text. This was my major frustration with the pen. I may as well stick with doing what I have been doing, i.e. writing on a pad then scanning this into my PC.
2). The Starter Notebook they give you is too small for me. I kept finding I was constrained by the lack of paper width. I can purchase wider paper but didn't as issue 1 was a showstopper anyway.
3). I tried to print my own pads but this didn't work very well at all. We have a very good laser printer at work but this wasn't a good enough quality for the pen to know where it was writing. …

OK -- If it works.
Purchased the pen and used if for about a week; liked it and purchased multiple notebooks. After taking about 20 pages over 3-5 Purchased the pen and used if for about a week; liked it and purchased multiple notebooks. After taking about 20 pages over 3-5 days, the pen would not sync with iPad. It turns out that there was a defect in the FSR (reported in other reviews) that prevented the pen from recording my notes. I called Livescribe, they identified the problem promptly -- so promptly that I expect they are seeing this often -- and promised to send a replacement. Hoping it does not have the same problem. …
