G-Technology 1TB G-DRIVE Mobile USB 3.0/FireWire Hard Drive
I have to say that this Hard Drive is worth its weight in gold. Not only is it well built and designed but can be used as a mini s ever by daisy chaining the fire wires in parallel, hence you only use one firewire 800 connecter which is great for my late 2008 MacBook Pro. and the big plus for me is its USB3 too. …

Be wary of these Drives
Have about 6 of these in the 750 GB USB 2.0 / FW 800 variation. I have returned 2 under warranty with connection failures - drives will not boot on the FW800 port. One "repaired" drive was replaced and the replacement did not work. Two others, out of warranty, have also failed on FW800 booting but will boot on USB. All of the 6 drives have been bought within 2 years. G-Tech was a highly respected brand but I no longer trust their reliability. …

Faulty on arrival
When I received the drive, it was already suffering from a loose connector. The USB3.0 cable wobbles in the drive and unless I tuc k the cable underneath the drive, the connection can drop without notice, which is bad news depending on the application I'm using.
Build quality leaves a lot to be desired. …- Written by Tom V from Leichhardt
