Better than you can imagine

They have an adjustable subwoofer, and you can go from zero bass to "feeling your insides vibrate" bass. There is no distortion when maxed out on volume in all areas, actually they seem to get clearer (always crisp, never "tin can" sounding) the louder you crank them. I have tried at least a dozen "headset/ computer" speakers, some that were more than triple the price and some that were comparable. They do not look great in pictures, almost cheap, but in person, they are stunning and solid. The unique design is very minimal modern. I move them around my house with my airport express, and people ask me what they are (they have no idea they are speakers unless they are on) They are so versatile, I will plug them into my ipod, iphone, itouch, the computer, the airport express, anything with a headset jack, and I have an incredible stand alone stereo system. If you can't tell, I love them. Just try them, if they don't shock you and win you over, you can always return them, but I highly doubt that will happen. …

Knowing Harman Kardon as a reputable brand, I decided to buy these speakers with the aid of the $100 rebate from purchasing a laptop. I am not dissapointed. The SoundSticks III provide clear, rich sound that can play any genre of music, especially with a little tuning of the subwoofer. The sticks themselves are very solid and have a perfect weight, and the subwoofer has a light up led which complements the contemporary style of the speakers nicely. I would very highly reccommend these speakers to music lovers or anyone who doesnt want to break the bank on a set of speakers. These are amazing. …

Be aware that the primary speakers are linear, so they are *very* directional. My only complaint is that mine (and those of numerous other owners) can suddenly stop working. I loved the sound, loved the looks, but will never buy H/K again. …

Over a Year and I Still Love Them
I hate leaving reviews until I've had the product for a while, but since it has been a year I figure it's time.
When I first sta I hate leaving reviews until I've had the product for a while, but since it has been a year I figure it's time.
When I first started looking for new speakers to replace the absolutely terrible ones I had before I spent hours over the course of a few days reading reviews in the form of 'Top Ten Speakers'. To my surprise most of the lists were different, but these were always somewhere on the list, usually in the top 3-5. They also ended up being one of the more affordable from those lists as well.
Anyway, got them delivered and had a pretty easy time with the set up; no complaints there. Used them and was graced with fantastic sound that didn't distort the louder it went. These guys can get loud! They look super cool as well, and they are pretty sturdy (Mine have survived a few trips to the floor via my cat shouldering them out of her way)
In summary: a purchase that I have no regrets over, and I would recommend these to anyone …

Note that these speakers need to have their own power plug, independent of the iMac/Macbook/TV. Because of this, they have a lot of power; much more than line-powered speakers.
The volumes of the bass speaker and of the SoundSticks can be set independently. …
