Reviews for Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit

I was a little bit nervous after reading some of the reviews but it worked just as advertised. I was able to transfer pictures directly from two different cameras. I was also able to transfer pictures from my computer to an sd card and then directly into the iPad. I am satisfied that this product works just the way I expected.

I almost didn't purchase this product because of all the reviews. Then I thought, Apples doesn't tend to make stuff that doesn't work. For $30 I'll give it a try. To be clear, I don't use the SD Card adapter as my cameras are all CFs, so this review only applies to the camera connection.

When I first connected my camera, I had to change the communication mode to PTP as I was getting "incompatible device" errors. Once I did that, BAM! It was great! Snap a shot - there it was. No problems at all. I was able to quickly import photos, edit them using any of the apps I have for that purpose and upload them wherever I wanted.

The ONLY downside I found was the downsizing (which isn't a problem with the iPad, but with editing apps). If you have a camera that takes good sized photos, don't make the mistake of deleting your originals after importing. Once you edit them on your iPad they'll be downsized quite a bit so keep the originals on your card until you backup to your computer, just to be safe. :-) Love it!

Does not allow you to add the files to a specific folder you create. A problem when hoolking up my video camera, it thinks I am copying over the same files. It also seems to split the one set of files into mulltiple folders. Really needs some better software. It would not read the format of my .mp4 files (Sanyo Xacti) on the ipad.

wont detect any of the SD cards I have , looks like another Jail break required

I have attempted to use this over the course of a year. My experience is that my camera has difficulty establishing a connection to the iPad. Typically, when I plug the camera (most recently a Sony Cybershot DSC TX10, but previously a different Cybershot) into this port, the iPad does NOT recognize anything at all. Typically I end up having to pull the memory card and insert it directly into the iPad.

Part of the problem may be that I cannot charge either the camera or the iPad during the connection period because their charger ports are being used to make this connection. Nonetheless, that isn't a valid excuse for the process not to work. Essentially this problem reflects the limitations and design constraints of the iPad. Disappointing.

My Sony camera worked fine then all of a sudden message USB requires to much power, on my iPad 2. Went to Sony they blamed apple, went to apple they said must be a problem with the brand new camera!! all to say I have a new camera and an ipad2 that doesn't upload photos one of the main reason for having the iPad

Any help to be offered? Apple by reading the reviews I am not the only one

I have a Sony Cybershot and originally this kit used to work fine and downloaded my photos onto the iPad not problem then all of a sudden it just stopped and now it gives me the insufficiant power message.

Same kit, same memory card just stopped working. Thought it might have been the amount of data but no wont work with even one photo on the memory card.

As it used to work I wonder if it is more a iPad software version problem.

I got it when I had the 1st. iPad and it worked great! I even used it a couple of times connecting the iPhone 4 to the iPad and retrieved all the pictures in Camera Roll. Now with the New iPad (2012) I did the same and even connected my Nikon D80 and was able to get all the pictures in the SD card. It didn't matter if I plugged in the card or the camera itself. Amazing product, and with iPhoto for iPad I can even retouch the pics and send to clients right away!

. Can't download from my video cam, sd memory card (or any memory card for that matter), or my camera. These are a waste of money which wouldn't even allow me to transfer one single picture. NOT HAPPY and seriously never gonna buy any more apple stuff.

This kit works like a charm to transfer pictures off my camera using the SD card, however if the folder's name was changed or I tried to transfer a folder from my computer, I couldn't get the device to recognize the files. Now I know to transfer pictures before naming the folders so that shouldn't be an issue. I haven't tried the USB port yet. I hope a future software update will let me transfer any file from SD card to IPad but it will do for now.
