    I like it!

    • Written by from Christchurch

I'm trying to be minimalist in terms of what I carry around with me to meetings and on flights. That means turfing the leather bag which I think is about 8 + kgs when I'm boarding Air NZ flights. So I traded in the MacBook Pro 15" to a MacBook Air 13' along with downsizing on all the accessories e.g smaller case/bag, smaller mouse, cables etc etc... (by the way I can highly recommend the MacBook Air 13" its sleek and fast!)

The Thule 15" Attache does the job perfectly. I can fit my MacBook Air 13" into the slot where the Ipad is meant to go. That means I can put any paper work and files into the area where a 15" MacBook Pro is meant to go. Using a smaller case such as the Thule 15" Thule has forced me to only carry what I really need when traveling from my home office, to my work office or when travelling to Wellington. That means I don't carry all the cr#p I use to. Another thing is that because the size of the case is smaller than most larger bags like Messengers then you become quite considered when buying accessories. So I've bought a Swiftpoint mouse which is half the size of others so it fits into my new Thule Attache. Basically if you want to move to a minimalist, quality, better environmental way of doing things this case might suit you.

I've read the other reviews so have tried to go easy on the zip etc.

Mac Book Air 13" Vs Thule Case 15"

    • Written by from Seer Green

I've been looking at the Thule case for my 13 inch Mac Book Air for a while and I could not decide on the Thule 13 or 15 inch case.
From the reviews I have read, the MBA 13" and the 13" Thule case is a tight fit, so I bought the 15" case (thinking in the future I may upgrade to a 15" laptop), and the 15" inch case works for me.
When I first placed the MBA in the case, my initial thought was I had made a mistake as it looked as if the MBA would rattle around inside the case; however, I found after daily use, that the MBA easily slips in and out under the securing strap without scraping and although it is not a tight (locked-in) fit inside the case, when the case is closed, the inner sleeve padding section in the case holds the MBA in place.
I've tried the MBA in the case around my home as "a walk around" and the MBA feels secure and I have not felt any movement of the MBA inside the case.
The Thule outer case has one side flat and the other curved, this makes the case excellent to rest a laptop on if you are typing on your lap and when typing "in-case" (with the case open).
When used "in-case", I found that my MBA 13" can be used inside the Thule 15" case with MBA power and USB cables connected; however one minor down point, the case edge does have a soft dig into my wrists when typing "in-case", that is the only thing I have found against the case.
The Thule case, as all the reviews have stated, is a great case, get one.

Just got this for Christmas and I am very pleased.this case has quality built in it every where you look . Glad I got the attaché instead of the sleeve. I will need the extra space for my iPad and chargers.

    Very nice daily case

    • Written by from Rocky Hill

I have really grown to like this case more and more over time. I purchased this for a 15" rMBP, iPad 3rd gen. and chargers, etc. I primarily use this for just going from home to work. If I had to use this regularly for travel where I would need to fit in lots of papers and other things, it might be on the small side. For my use, it is almost perfect.

One trick I found is if you are carrying an iPad in the designated pocket, it is better to stand it up portrait instead of landscape and move it to one side. That gives you room on the other side of the pocket behind for bulkier items, like the chargers. This allows the case to easily close and not strain the zippers.

It would be a little better if it was just slightly deeper to allow a little more cushion for fitting more items in. Shedding a 1/2 to 1 pound or so wouldn't be bad either. That said, it is a great case - protective from bumps/small drops and weather while still attractive and unique. Some have mentioned the odor initially. If you let it air out a day or two, it pretty much dissipates.

The Size!! I want to give this 10 stars.

    • Written by from San Francisco

This bag is rugged, waterproof, looks good, and fits my MacBook Pro, full size headphones (folded Bose QC15s), the power brick, various cables and small items, and some documents too in a pinch.

So far so good. But the crazy thing is the size - this bag is barely bigger than my 15" retina MacBook Pro. It's very, very small, and light. People are amazed the laptop fits in there, let alone all the other stuff.

Internal organization is top 10 too, one compartment for the laptop, one for everything else, a big flat sleeve for large documents, three small tight pouches small stuff. There are two large compartments and one can choose which one to use for the laptop - the smaller one fits the retina MacBook Pro like a glove.

    Love/hate relationship

    • Written by from Georgetown

The look of the bag drew me in. The size and weight fit well with my need. I visit customers on a regular basis and my meetings typically do not last five plus hours at a time. I found carrying around power cables, portable drives, a letter size pad of note paper and various items from my desk that I once felt I "needed" was a waste of weight and a good shoulder. For my newly enlightened needs, this case seemed strong enough, smart enough and dog-gone-it people liked it. It fit just enough stuff that it worked very well. For about three months. Then the honeymoon was over and I found out what was once offered up in joy became withdrawn. The primary zipper frequently snagged and refused to yield. One day the drawbridge went up and I no longer had access to the castle. Attempting to enter resulted in a moat forming between the zipper and the stitching holding it to the case. I was finally able to scale the walls, however, the relationship had been damaged and was now non-functional. While you can never replace your first love; hopefully Thule can provide me with a twin.

    Love/hate relationship

    • Written by from Gales Ferry

There are some great aspects to this case and some not so great. Positive: The case is very rugged, lots of room for extras and is just the right size. On the negative: If you want to take your mac out of this case it is VERY hard to do so. I did not buy a thin laptop to have it stuck in a bulky case, so I am constantly fighting to get my computer out. Perhaps the worst aspect to this case is the smell... a very harsh, fowl smell can be detected when opening this case. I have just ordered a new case and I will be passing this along to someone else who does not mind the negative aspects.

    faulty zipper

The case seemed to be excellent for the first two months. Then the zipper pulled away and the case cannot be shut completely. I would not recommend this case.

My favorite case out there by far

    • Written by from San Diego

I recently rec'd my new retina MBP 15" by FedEx and I went to both Fry's and the Apple Store to pick out a nice case. I also own a Macbook Air 13" and have been using the InCase satchel with stow-away handles and a fleece-like fur lining with 2 external fabric zippered pockets for charger and air-drive. I picked up a 15" version of this InCase in the grey-orange scheme, knowing that the pockets would be a bit larger and the color was cooler than the black 13" that I own.
I also bought the Thule 15" Attache Case at the Apple Store and brought them both home knowing that I would get the chance to try them both out for a day or two. By far, the Thule wins! I love the nice fit of the rMBP and the fact that I can stow my iPad in the case as well as the same gear that went into the outside pockets of the InCase. Now I can carry everything in a sleek protective profile. I'm very pleased with the Thule and will be returning the InCase tomorrow!

    Space

    • Written by from Roanoke rapids

Bought this case for its minimalistic build ands its durability. It works great for when I travel by air, train, car and when I need to have my Mac and iPad near by. Its compartment for the computer and iPad are perfect, the only issue I've found is that it doesn't have quite enough room for items like chargers in the secondary compartment otherwise it does a great job of protecting by gear. I would recommend that when considering this bag to compare it to its messenger bag version that has more space with the same durability.

    Only one gripe!

    • Written by from NEWMARKET

After ordering my new Macbook Pro Retina I knew i would need a case to protect its beauty. While sleeves are okay for some who are going to plonk them in a big bag or just a bag with a sleeve within it this is something different.

Firstly its a sleeve that is also a bag. I wanted to carry my accessories about with my computer but i wanted something lightweight that will also protect it.

This does just that: its a rigid shell which holds your computer with elastic inside, and unlike a sleeve you can use it from within the case when you need to pop it open for a second but are unable to put it down.

My only issue is that when you do take it in and out from under the elastic you could scratch the bottom on the lip of the zip. For the moment I simply pull it out from the back but i may get icarbons or a speck case when they finally arrive.

Bottom line: This is ideal for those who cant be dealing with a sleeve and want a hard case.

P.S. The Retina fits perfectly and the bag has nice hard corners!

    Poor zip quality

    • Written by from Auckland

This is a good bag but this is also the second Thule case I've owned that has had a zip failure. I'm generally not too tough on my stuff - maybe it's just bad luck but that's too many failures.

Yeah man...:)!... I love this case..it functions very well as a protective travel case; safely transporting my Mac Book Pro along with a compartment for my iPad and iPhone. It feels great and has that 007 look! Oh, and it keeps the rain OUT!...Yeah man....:)!

    Top Case!

    • Written by from Darwin

Looked around extensively for a case that would protect my macbook while on the go. But found this to be exceptional. It closes tightly. No loose parts at all. It has nice straps. And appears to be water resistant for the long part. I would recommend this to anyone who has just bought the new retina model. Can also use the case while working!

    Top Case!

    Best Laptop Bag I own

    • Written by from Mosman

    5 stars for functionality
Fits the charger, Ipad, iphone, a small notepad, logitech mouse, cables and etc. Once you zip the back, it's hard to believe all that stuff is packed in.

    5 starts for quality
Some people said the zipper is not that good, but I disagree. It has a later on top of the zipper to make it waterproof. There is also a claimed 25 year warranty on the product, which is a relief incase something happens to the zipper which I doubt.

Overall, it's a good value for the money.

    Great case!!

    • Written by from Maidstone

Great for lugging around the 15" MacBookPro, power cable and mouse, not much more room for anything else, though. iPad is a tight fit, even worse if you have it in a thick iPad case.

Quality is very good, I tend to run the zip around the corners carefully, though.

I don't use the MacbookPro in the case much, but when I do, its not easy to charge it up. The MagSafe2 (where you plug it in for charging) sits below the zip on the side so not enough room for the plug. I have the Retina, not sure the thicker non-Retina machine has the MagSafe2 sitting higher. Not a big issue though, only use it in the case while on the run, not for hours on end. Thought I'd mention it anyway.

Overall really nice, good quality attache case, love it.

Good little case for a 15" MacBook Pro

    • Written by from Colorado Springs

I have held off providing a review for a while since I wanted to really see how this works. Here are my takes:
    1) Fits the bare MacBook Pro exactly like a glove. But it is easy to get it in and out.
    2) The manufacturer states that you can use the MacBook Pro in the case, but I wouldn't recommend this as the rear air vents are blocked.
    3) Not much room for other stuff. It's a tight fit for an iPad, power supply with long power cord, mouse, and phone. But, it's a small case not a full sized attache case.
    4) Shoulder strap gets in the way when opening the case. One end of the strap is connected to the "bottom" of the case and the other end is connected to the "top".

    Worth It

    • Written by from GAINESVILLE

Got this for the 15" MPBR. Pricey but you get what you pay for in this case. Design, Materials, Style, and Protection. If you're a road warrior you may want to think bigger. But for commuting this is a home run. Pure Art for traveling light. Space you need but none of the bulk you don't. Decent peripheral storage. Nice fit and finish. Frequent flyers are going to love this case.

    Design flaw/scratching corners

    • Written by from Sydney

This case has an awesome build and a great design. The reason why I returned it is because I got sick of being anxious evert time I zipped the case up. When your MacBook Pro 15 is sitting in the bag and you zip it up, the zipper around the corner is only a matter mm's away from the corner of the MacBook.

You buy a case to protect your laptop, not damage it and leave marks and scratches all over the corners. So disappointing because I really liked the case. Such a minor issue that makes the world of a difference. I wouldn't recommend buying this case until this design flaw is rectified (all they need is to add 5-6mm on each side and the problem will be alleviated).

A perfect Case for Retina MacBook Pro

    • Written by from Dublin

I am loving it.. It is nicest of the cases out there. I tried a couple but the fit wasn't great, but this one is awesome. It can be used as a case and as a bag. It has few useful pockets in the front. The best part of the case is that while using it outdoors one can use the Macbook while it is inside the case. I feel very comfortable while traveling, as it is very sturdy. The build quality is superb, not only it looks sturdy it feels as well. No doubt people may find it expensive but it delivers the level of quality, and justifies the brand name Thule.
