Well, if she is interested in music + Sports you should get iPod Nano or Shuffle you should also consider buying Nike + compadble shoes, it measures how many steps your child takes with iPod Nano
If she likes JUST music you should get iPod Classic

do any of the ipods have an fm transmitter ability?
I'm taking a long trip in an older car and would like an iPod that I can tune my car stereo to so that it receives the music playing from an iPod; which will obviously then let me listen to my music through my car speakers (no aux input or bluetooth or anything in this car unfortunately)

Does the new latest iPod Nano have any maximum volume level resrictions?
I have read reviews on previous iPod Nano versions that criticised the volume levels (they apparently don't go high enough to use outside where there is background noise). Upon browsing the internet it seems the European versions have a fairly low maximum volume setting due to some particular legislation set by Brussels.

The new 7th generation iPod nano does not support Spotify. Unlike the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, the iPod nano doesn't run the same operating system and does not have the capability to connect to the internet. If you'd like your iPod to be able to use Spotify, I recommend purchasing the iPod touch.

as the lightning connector is a digital only connection, and 3.5mm AUX is analogue there will never be this type of cable, furthermore use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable using the headphone slot to achieve a connection to in car entertainment.
