I had real problems with WD My book for mac previously (which failed to work with my mac and which WD refused to support - 'because I was using it with a mac'!), so I was mighty relieved to find that the G-Drive worked so smoothly. …

it was great...until it wasn't.

I have the older version of the AppleTV that has a hard drive, but it also downloads every TV show and movie you purchase to your computer. Needless to say, I quickly ran out of storage space on my MacBookPro, and needed a solution.
Enter this product. It's thin, it worked great, and it was easy to migrate my iTunes existing library, and have every new addition to iTunes move here.
...until a week ago. Recently, I would get error messages on my computer, telling me that there was an error with the drive. I ran Disk Utility and after Verify Disk identified errors, the Repair Disk always fixed everything. Last week, as I was packing up my apartment to move, I again got an error message - but this time, the Verify/Repair wouldn't cut it. My Mac now won't even mount the drive, and I can only "see" it in Disk Utility. DU is telling me that the disk cannot be repaired, and needs to be backed up and reformatted. I'm going in Saturday to the Genius Bar to see what they can do, but since this drive IS my backup, it doesn't seem like I'll be able to recover anything.
I really don't want to have to buy another drive, but this thing seems to be on its last legs, or dead. I'm not happy because 2 years isn't a long life. I never, ever moved it, but I also rarely turn off my computer.. wonder if that caused an issue? Since the disk won't mount, every time I turn on iTunes now, it tells me it can't find any of my content.
Cut to me having to delete all of the purchased content off of iTunes before I could even redownload the Purchased content from iTunes. I tried redownloading everything, but now I'm back to square one of being out of space on my computer as a result.
I may just need to bite the bullet and switch to the newer model of the AppleTV so everything can live on the cloud and not take up space on my computer, but I need help ASAP. …

Use Disk Utility in OSX to do this. So essentially, you'll have 2 partitions on the hard drive-One for Windows and One for OSX. OSX will see both partitions and mount them as separate hard drives. Windows will only see the Windows partition and mount that as a separate hard drive. …
