I'm sure there are better headphones available, but at 2 or 3 times the price of these.

    Perfect for everyday use

    The Good:

The sound quality of these headphones Setup and use: iPhone 4 & 5, 2-4 hours a day in public transport and office.

    The Good:

The sound quality of these headphones is quite good - good base, good mids and highs for the price class. The microphone works well too (without the environmental echoing that sometimes is an issue). These compare to the Klipsch S4i which I have owned two pairs of as well.

    The Bad:

This is the second pair of Sennheiser i300s that I have bought and they come undone after about 5-6 months. The thick rubber cap that protects the cable at the headphone jack first splits and then comes undone, leaving the cable at the insert to slowly disintegrate. This first causes loss of microphone/headphone functionality and soon thereafter loss of headphone functionality.

Every pair of headphones I have owned so far (Sony MDR EX51, Klipsch S4i, Sennheiser i300) has disintegrated after 6-12 months either by right ear drop out or microphone break. This is a common problem and comes down to the thin wiring. I treat my headphones nicely - always coil them loosely, don't yank etc.

I would give these more stars for the sound but the build quality is flimsy. The Klipsch S4i at least have a replacement warranty so you can just take them back to the Apple store and replace them right there right then so you effectively get 2 for the price of 1 purchase within a 12-18 months time frame which is cheaper than having to buy two of these.

  • Good overall sound quality, but flawed

Sound-wise, they perform adequately I recently bought these as replacements for the original Ear Pods that came with my iPhone 5s. Sound-wise, they perform adequately, although not inspiring and the midrange is a little flat as another reviewer pointed out. Unfortunately, they are let down by the overall build quality, which seems somewhat flimsy, and the built in controls are fiddly to use, with awkward button placement, especially the centre button. Additionally, the controls will occasionally cease to function when plugged in to my iPhone and require removal and reinsertion to get working again. This could possible be a defect with my unit specifically, but it's something to note.

The asymmetrical cord will favour some and irk others - I'm definitely in the latter group. With regards to fit, I found none of the supplied rubber caps to provide a comfortable and secure fit in my ears, and they have a tendency to completely block external noise, which again could be a plus or a minus depending on your preferences.

Overall, if you have "compatible" ears and don't want to spend a lot on a pair of ear buds, these might be a passable choice, however I will personally be returning mine as there are arguably better options at this price point.

Fantastic sound quality, SO much better than the Sennheiser M 30i which I found tinny and shrill sounding.
I've also owned the R Fantastic sound quality, SO much better than the Sennheiser M 30i which I found tinny and shrill sounding.
I've also owned the RHA 450i, but I rate the i300 better for sound. I'd say it's a well rounded sound which gets better with use, plenty of bass which I like.

Loses a star from me because the asymmetrical cable is really annoying...
