    What Garbage

    • Written by from HAMTRAMCK

This case will not stand up. That's all there is to it. $80 of my hard earned money for something that is basically worthless for it's intended purpose! Protection is fine, but so are many others!

Awful quality, wears out within weeks

    • Written by from SOUTHAMPTON

I've now had two of these cases after the local store agreed to swap my first one but after experiencing exactly the same problems I shall be returning it.

The magnets pickup iron/metal filings which then get engrained in the microfibre, you'll have odd rectangles marking the flap within a few days and they're near on impossible to remove.

The leather stains easily and looks grubby within days. The corners will discolour quickly where you hold it and the corners of the flap curl up like an old book.

The cover flap doesn't even sit flush with the screen when its shut (was told this is a design feature!!)

It falls over constantly when using the flap as a stand (which also places the microfiber side on whatever you're sitting it on meaning it attracts even more dirt)

It honesty feels like you'll snap the ipad trying to remove it sometimes

You must do better than this Apple, its simply not up to the standards I've come to expect over the last 10 years.

I was considering purchasing the smart case for my iPad Air, but on reading other reviews I will not be purchasing this, at least not until APPLE smarten up and make it more sturdy. As I will be using this quite often in my kitchen to follow a recipe, I need it to be able to stand up when I scroll down the page. COME ON APPLE MAKE IT STURDIER AND CHEAPER!!

Nice case, totally awful as a stand

    • Written by from NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE

This is a one star review only because the system would not let me rate it as 0 (zero) which I would if I could.
I had a smart case with my iPad 2 and it was great as a case and it was a useful stand.

The new 3 fold design of these new cases is just terrible. I lost count the number of times it collapsed whilst i was watching a video or whilst typing. I got so fed up I bought a new non apple cover/case.

How this ever passed Quality Assurance just astounds me.

    Avoid at all costs.

    Case but No Stand

    • Written by from NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE

The iPad Air case is a nice slim light fit. It keeps the iPad Air clean and scuff free. As far as a stand goes this unit is worthless. The Apple Air Will NOT stand in this case. It falls over no matter what way you fold the case. My query to Apple Product Control is will Apple indemnify its customers when this case causes the iPad to fall and as a result the iPad is damaged. My iPad has now fallen three times and hit a hard surface. This product is unfit for purpose and this design needs urgently reviewed. Apple need to act here as it is their Brand that is suffering as a result. Previous CEO Jobs would not have been pleased with this shabby workmanship and at £65 sterling this is daylight robbery.

We bought this case for my wife on day of launch of the ipad air in UK. The case looked gorgeous. At the end of January the case looks discoloured, worn and v v tatty. My wife is really disappointed and unlike other Apple products I cannot and would not recommend this

I bought a new iPad , iPhone and 2 cases 1 red for my iPhone and a red one like this for my IPad.. Just last month. The case feels good and I really like it it is marked up worth black marks and just looks nasty. I am not rough on my cases and take great care to wipe off cases and keep them clean. It drives me crazy how awful these cases look and I HATE them!!

looks nice, feels fine (though actually tough to tell it is leather versus their old plastic)…BUT DOES NOT STAND UP!
Barely stays in landscape mode and will not stay in portrait.

Poorly designed and overpriced. Leather will show serious signs of damage after only a week or so of minimal use. Not recommended.

    Total Rip Off

    • Written by from Westlake village

The single worst product purchased from Apple. There is no way to hold the IPad Air stationery for use. The price at $79.00 is way overpriced as the only functionality is to cover the screen. If this were the auto industry, this would be a mandatory recall. Do not buy this as it is a waste of $79 and Apple should be embarrassed to offer it with the new IPad Air!

    Very disappointed!

    • Written by from Landrum

Normally all Apple products exceed my expectations, but sadly this product is quite disappointing. Having previously had an iPad 2 with a leather Smart Cover, I was expecting the same functionality with this new cover. Whilst the new product has a great fit and punchy colour, it falls down on the stand function of the cover. The previous version had four folds with a sturdy magnet function whilst this only has three folds and a magnet connection along the edge. This leads to instability when using the cover as a stand. It collapses easily and can fall over with the slightest touch. If you tend to use this feature on a cover, I would look for an alternative.

For $99 I'd expect something sturdier. This is my first ever iPad and bought this case as I love Product Red. Just have to blow on the iPad and it tips over.

    Very disappointed in this purchase.

When I shut my cover, I can still see the screen glowing beneath it. This never happened with my old ipad Smart Cover. Will need to return it.

If you just want a cover, then this is fine but expensive. If you want a cover and stand, then look for something else. It is always collapsing during use. Very poor effort Apple.

I previously used an apple ipad smart case (grey) for my iPad 3rd gen. I never worried about the case in all year around until selling it. That is really a nice case. HOWEVER, this new smart case for iPad air is TERRIBLE! iPad cannot stand stably like before. The front of new case just has three parts, not like former version (four parts), so the stability is decreased. The iPad will fall down when i just touch it. The triangular holder is really not reliable.

    Won't stand up!!!

    • Written by from BONNE TERRE

I actually like the snug fit of the case and its functionality of turning the iPad Air off when the cover closes. However, the design of the case for standing the iPad Air upright is clearly flawed. It keeps tipping over with the slightest touch to the screen. Would not recommend for this reason only, as sit my iPad Air on my office desk to do work. Unless you have a feather touch with your finger to the screen, it will eventually fall backwards. Dissappointed and am returning mine.

Fail... Magnet wake/sleep feature doesn't work.

    • Written by from Sun Prairie

Wow, what a buzzkill. After reluctantly shelling out 80 bucks because I wanted the case, and Apple quality, I get it all the way home and popped on and the Smart Cover does not work. The display stays on when the cover is closed (I can see the light because magnet feature doesn't fully work with the gap from the Smart Case overlap) and the screen does not awaken when opening the cover. Obviously a dud. But still, frustrating, as last year I got a dud iPad 4. Hopefully quality isn't slipping. I am a loyal Apple fan and love all the products.
    Back this case is going.

Looks good but doesn't stand up to the task

    • Written by from Kenthurst

This case is a rip off.
It does look good and protect your iPad, however, because it only has three panels in the cover the stand is not sturdy and stable when precariously balancing on your lap or standing upright on a table.
Previous iPad models had smart covers with four panels and because these folded back on themselves, they were much better as a stand. I will be trying to get a refund.

I recommend spending your money on something better.
