    VW iPod convertor

    • Written by from Wolverhampton

This works in my 07 VW golf to convert my iPod connector in my arm rest to play music via my radio. I have an iPod gen 5. Is expensive but it is just the right size for my car.

Works perfectly in my Audi Q5 with MMI.

    • Written by from San Francisco

Wanted the cable to interface with my audio system in my 2012 Audi Q5, and this cable does the job.

I'm going to take it with me when I'm traveling (frequently) as pretty much every hotel alarm clock has the 30 pin plug.

Just deducting a star for the extortionate price. For what this is it really should be $19 maximum. It's a shame how horribly we're gouged as Apple consumers.

    It works nicely

    • Written by from Leesburg

After reading some of the reviews, I was more than a little wary. I presumed that Apple would take it back, if it didn't connect my iPhone 5S to the old 4S connector on the top of my iHome radio. That radio has nice sound playing my own iPhone music or playing my Classical SiriusXM channels "Pop" or "Symphony" music.
    It works well.
I would like to have had another 18-20 inches for the price.

If you get one that works it is fine!

    • Written by from Otaki

I have had 4 of these now! Two eventually worked but two did not but were replaced by Apple. If you get a working one, great!
Don't be concerned about getting one replaced. I suspect they had faulty batch.

Minus a star for the price... Works with my 2011 Hyundai i30

    • Written by from New Barnet

I bought this so that I could hook up my iPhone 5 with my car stereo and have full functionality such as the stereo screen displaying song name, album name, etc; the steering wheel buttons working with volume and song selection and other treats. I am happy to say that this has worked flawlessly and I'm really pleased. This then allows me to connect the adapter to the car's bespoke MP3 wire and I'm a very happy man. Long journeys are now going to be a real treat.

    Does the job

    • Written by from LONDON

Rarely write a review but there are too many ambiguous comments. Works with a bmw USB / aux 30pin car adaptor perfectly. Agreed the £10 more for about 6 inches of wire is steep (£25 for adaptor; £35 for the adaptor with cable). The difference is that fixed with the original 30pin lead, one can control the phone easily while plugged in rather than via the car system. Helps with spotify and soon to be released iTunes Radio. Hope this helps.

    Works as expected

Adapter cable works well, charging and audio as expected using iphone 5s. Also it does fit fine with 5s leather case on. Only negative is the price, but got mine £10 cheaper from high street catalogue store.

    Expensive, but it works

    • Written by from Meridian

I bought this to connect my iPhone 5S to a USA Spec PA15-HON2 iPod/iPhone interface for my 2007 Honda Odyssey. The other Lightning to 30-pin adapter did not fit my iPhone case, but this cable works great, and all features I expected work correctly (audio, charging and steering wheel controls). Construction quality look to be top-notch, with a secure connection on both ends. While I don't mind paying extra for quality, the current price is still too high (thus, minus one star). Still, probably the only option available if you need to connect older devices to your Lightning device...

Worked as expected, but pricey even for Apple

    • Written by from Coral Springs

I bought this because I have a $400 Sony speaker dock that I love cause it has really good sound quality, but has a 30 pin dock connector that can't be swapped out with a lightning connector (thanks Sony). So rather than spend $300-$400 on a new dock, I figured I'd get this cable. To my surprise despite what people said on here I was able to control my iPhone (play, pause, next song, previous song, menu navigation) with my speaker dock remote which is great. The cable was a little shorter than I expected but works well. I didn't get the 29.99 adapter because I didn't want my iPhone's lightning port being stressed as it was standing on top of the dock and adapter and risk the lightning tip being snapped off in the port. So overall a great product, but over priced.

Does the job but at a high price.

Purchased this after I got my iPad Air as I wanted to use the link with my 30 pin cable with my Mac. The product is good and does the job well. I am able to use it with my iPad Air still in it's case (the case is a Griffin case) and sync with no problems.

When it comes the the length, it's perfect for me. Does come as a very HIGH price sadly.

    Works on my Dock Charger

    • Written by from Pompano Beach

Not sure why this product did not get a lot of good reviews. I just recently purchased the Ipod Nano 7th generation and was very disappointed to see it was not dock capable like my 4th generation. I went and purchased this and it works great. The only downfall I see is it Ipod rests on base of dock and not standing up. Yet that is not an issue for me. I just wanted to enjoy my Ipod music in my dock and it does. The $40 is kinda of expensive yet I would of had to spend more money getting another Ipod AND this adapter or go with the classic .

Works with 5S and Sony Dock

    • Written by from Holly Springs

This works with my new 5S and my old Sony ICF-CS15iP Audio Dock. All controls are preserved and the app on the phone works as well, when connected. Like most reviewers, I wish the cable was a little longer and a little less expensive.
I saw a reviewer that stated that the DAC was built in the cable which is what makes it more expensive than the other ones that don't carry audio or that have to use the headphone jack on the connector. Regardless, I'm happy....

    Worth the extra 10 dollars

    • Written by from Spring Valley

I first bought the $29.99 adapter for my car stereo but once I tried to connected it, it didn't fit with my defender case and who wants to be taking of and on a case anyways went back returned it and paid an extra $10 for this one and it fits perfect
So I would say If you have a case on your iPhone this one is worth it

    Good but expensive

    • Written by from Happy Valley

Use this with my Parrot MKi9200 car kit. The parrot has an older 30 pin connector to use with the older iPhones, this seems to work fine connected to the 30 pin parrot iPhone connector, having a short lead between the lightning end and the 30 pin end makes sense, especially if you have a decent cover on your iPhone 5, mine has the lifeproof case and works fine. Maybe a better item if the lead was longer than 0.2 m and was more like AUD$20.

    Works for my vehicles

    • Written by from Robbinsville

While I am not happy about the price of this cable (it is way too expensive), I am happy to report that it works to both charge the phone and to stream music, with complete control through the car stereo, when used on both my 2012 Hyundai Elantra and my 2014 Kia Sorento. I looked through a ton of these reviews without seeing either of these vehicles listed, so I was concerned about it. After arriving I am happy to report that it does work, so if you have one of these vehicles and need this cable it should be a good fit for you.

Does not charge iPad from IM600 Speakers

    • Written by from Blaine

I have an Altec Lansing InMotion IM600 rechargeable speaker system that works perfectly with my iPod. It has a 30-pin connector dock. It does three things:

1 - Plays music from the iPod through excellent-sounding speakers.

2 - Has a remote control that controls the iPod through the IM600 (Play, Pause, Skip ahead, Skip back).

3 - Charges the iPod if the IM600 is plugged in.

I bought this cable today so I could use my IM600 speakers with my new iPad. It works great except that it does not charge the iPad. This is not a surprise but the specs don't mention it. That would have been a five-star feature. I note that some other reviewers mention it not charging an iPhone either, possibly depending on the accessory used.

Another thing to note: this cable (as described) is only 8" long. That severely limits how you can position your devices.
Overall, once you get your devices positioned so that they are not tugging on the cable, it seems to work great.

    Works for my needs

    • Written by from Tujunga

As a music producer, I needed this to work with my audio & MIDI devices made with the 30 pin connectors. These include a Tascam stereo microphone and a Yamaha MIDI interface, both of which work just fine on my iPad 4 with this adaptor, as they did on my iPad 2 without it. Of course the price is outrageous, so this better turn out to be bullet proof, at least until it becomes obsolete, which is probably going to be way too soon! Also, why are all Apple cables and adapters always white? I would prefer the much less obtrusive color of black.

    Nice addition

    • Written by from Orlando

I have more 30 pin cables than lightning cables and it is nice to make a 30 pin cable a dedicated 2nd lighting cable and take it on the go as I'm one the only ones that keep up with the latest technology in my family. And like many other have said I got this one to avoid the cable fitting with a case issue

    Excellent bit of kit.

    • Written by from Shepton Mallet

Though a little short, it's excellent and works.
Some people have complained the connector is larger. It's an 'intelligent' cable, therefore there are more components packed in to the cable than the standard lightning.
Also, why are people giving 1-star for incompatibility with Sony/Bose kit? That's the audio companies fault and not a fault of this cable.
As for it not playing video, lightning doesn't support video-out (as yet) and Apple has made this very clear in the past, again, not a fault of this cable.
