Works with iPhone 5s to Arcam rCube, rWand and VW Media-in connection

    • Written by from Burton-on-Trent

Just upgraded iPhone from 4s to 5s as don't like size/weight of 6. Hope I don't regret that too soon! Anyway this connector works fine with direct connection to the (now deleted) Arcam rCube and the phone is supported well enough unless you are going to throw your shoes at it! I can confirm it also works using the Arcam rWand over it's Klear streamed connection. I have just tried it with the 30-pin VW media-in cable in my 2011 VW Golf Estate and it works as well as the original connection ever did ( ie not perfectly but well enough). So I hope this helps all you rCube lovers as I could find nothing on this before now and I know this contradicts other reports about the VW Media-in connection. The Lightning plug is reversible in use, but remember the 30 pin end is not!
Loss of one star as the price could have been sold at a loss by Apple even though I think it contains a DAC - for goodwill reasons; and I wonder if they considered a more stubby, strong adapter without a DAC but including a jack connection to the jack socket triggered to produce a line out analog signal through a 30 pin socket.

    Great accessory!

    • Written by from Wodonga

I recently purchased an iPhone 6, upgrading from an iPhone 4s. I have a Panasonic docking station/radio that worked great with my 4s. I was worried about purchasing this product due to a lot of reviews saying it wouldn't play music or charge my phone.

Definitely not the case with me, I got it today ( 5 days after ordering) plug it in and it works. Plays and charges great! Admittedly I don't have a case yet, but taking my phone out of the case to use my docking station doesn't bother me as I had to do that with my 4s. Overall I'm happy with it, but the price isn't so great, but I would rather by a genuine apple accessory, than a cheaper one and damage my phone.

    It works !!!

    • Written by from Liskeard

Reluctantly bought this after reading reviews, unsure it would work with my philips ds9/10 speaker dock but it works perfectly fine, I don't have to take my phone out of its case and it fits the right way around and charges and sound comes out of speaker and not phone. Bit pricey but cheaper than a new speaker.

    Great adapter but expensive

I have been using this adapter to charge my phone and it has worked well for me. It will transmit audio but will not transmit video. Obviously the price is a bit painful.

Works for iPod Nano 7/MBZ. 30-pin

    • Written by from Orange

Just purchased new iPOD Nano 7. I have a 2008 MBZ 350ML that came with iPod 30-pin cable connector. So, had to purchase this adapter in hopes it would work. I even called MBZ to inquire if MBZ makes this device and was told NO, but was advised to buy this device directly from APPLE. Called APPLE and inquired if they knew for sure it would work with my situation and was told "it should", but if not I could definitely return. So far, so good. Seems to work perfectly fine. Have NOT, however, determined if it charges the iPod when connected. Gave 4 stars because I feel it is overpriced.

    Works fine for me

    • Written by from Nampa

I have had the iPhone 5, now have the 5s and have used this adapter on both phones. I have the Otterbox Defender case and the adapter works just fine with the case on the phone. No need to remove the case to charge the phone.
Not really a big fan of adapters due to the extra connection requirement as that can and sometimes does lead to some problems...the more connections, the more problems one may encounter. Would be better to just use an extra charging/sync cable...and it would be cheaper too, by about $10-$20, depending on length of cable used. And there's little or not problem of using a charging/sync cable with most protective covers being left on the phone to charge.
Each individual situation has its own 'problems' and a little 'common sense' will work them out. All one has to do is use it (common sense).

The ridiculous Apple price aside, it's a perfect product. I just purchased a 7 generation iPod Nano and I have owned a Bose series II sound dock for just over a year. The Bose accommodates a 30 pin, not a lightning. The adapter is tiny and it works well. It also charges my Nano 7 gen while docked. The audio is perfect. I can only speak for the Nano...I don't own/want an iPhone. Also, problems with a bulky case dates back almost a decade so please, enough with the complaints about this product not working with your bulky case. I would give this product 5 stars if the price was closer to $10.00.

This adapter works great with my iPad mini! If you have a lot of 30-pin chargers lying around, I recommend you buy this adapter to make use of those cables.

    No problems

I have an iPhone 5 that has an Incase cover. I've never had a problem connecting the adapter with the case in place. In fact, I've never had a problem with any iPhone case made by Incase or "bumper" made by Apple. I believe that the second simplest solution to issues of adapter connectivity with a case is to buy better-designed case - The simplest is just to go without.

    Does the job

    • Written by from Glasgow

Okay, so it's not the prettiest but it does the job. It works on my Roberts and my Bose and that's all I wanted it for. To all those who say it doesn't work perhaps you need extra attachments which come with the likes of Bose and Roberts. Note to Apple though - cut the price and get some new colours please.

A good product and I'm only knocking off a star because of the price, it does seem a bit expensive for what it is but I guess you get what you pay for. I've read a variety of reviews where some people say they can only charge their phone via the docking station or only play music but not charge etc but I got told its something to do with whether your docking station is capable of doing both. This seems to work well with my phone and docking station allowing me to charge my phone and play music so I'm happy. The only other point to mention would be depending on what type of cover or case you have on your phone, if you do have one, you might need to remove the cover to make sure everything connects up properly.

I I had actually purchased 3 of these since I had many old iPhone chargers sitting around plus this was very portable to take on the go with me. It has done nothing but what it was made to do it simply turns my old iPhone charger into a charger for my iPhone 5/5S's. I'm so stunned at these reviews you're all mad because it doesn't fit with your case.... are you kidding me? So go buy the actual lightning USB cable, what are you expecting? a redesign into the end so its thin and skinny enough to fit? It's an adapter for gods sake, plus cases ruin the beautiful design of the iPhone itself imo never have used and never will let alone use it as a terrible excuse to bash a product made for simple general use.

Expensive but compatible with Bose Sound Dock & VW in car

    • Written by from Aylesbury

I feel this product is expensive, however it has enabled me to use my new
iPhone 5c with my existing Bose Portable Sound Dock (it both charges and plays music) and it is also compatible with my VW in car lead (again both charges and plays music). So this adapter successfully does what it is suppose to!

Works as described in my 2010 Audi A5 with AMI

    • Written by from Chateauguay

Switched to the iphone 5s and needed a way to connect my new iphone to the car's music interface. This adapter works perfectly and seamlessly with the cable and audi music system. The sound quality is great. The cheap generic charge/sync adapters would't work properly since they don't have the analog/usb audio signal converter. This works as described, however costly! But it's apple, what do you expect...
For those whining about covers, well get a smaller or botomless cover and use your judgment when buying a case and adapter duo. I've had no problems whatsoever, but I use an ultraslim cover. Hope this helps! Cheers.

    A necessary expense

    • Written by from Dorchester

Just bought a used Jaguar XF with an iPod interface and wanted to connect my gen. 7 nano.replacing my 4th gen.
Tried a couple of different cheap adapters from the auction site. A complete waste of time effort and money.Take my advice don't go there.they just don't work,It's not even worth trying to return them either.
Just bought the correct apple one from John Lewis in Bournemouth. Works a treat ,exactly as it should. The assistant even said they would take it back if it didn't work (as you would expect)
At £25 it is well overpriced for what it is. Apple should include this with their iPods /phones. They are pennies to make.Four stars not five due to ridiculously high price.
    Any way thank you JohnLewis.

    Works well, but annoyingly expensive

    • Written by from Redmond

Great adapter, works with my iPhone case although my wife had to get a different case for her iPhone 5 to get the adapter to work for her. My only gripe is that $30 is way too much for this tiny thing. Ideally I would want to have a whole bunch of them, but at this price I only have a couple, which have a tendency to get misplaced.

    Works great, BUT ....

    • Written by from Hamilton

I purchased my Lightning to 30 pin adapter direct from the Apple Store and it worked perfectly with my new iPod Touch and all the devices I plug it into: Bose SoundDock Portable, iHome clock radio, various car and home stereo adapters, etc.

I would give it 5 stars except for the high cost and the loose-ability factor.

The one and only problem is that this thing is SO TINY !!! Lost mine last night somewhere, and at 35 bucks they ain't cheap to replace ! These need to have some sort of lanyard or something attached to lessen the chance of loss. Going to buy a new one this morning, will try and figure out someway of harnessing the little gizmo.
