    Total trash

    • Written by from Calgary

It doesn't even work. It charges my iPod when put on the dock but it doesn't let any music play. Total waste of $36, hopefully I'm able to return it.

    Completely useless

    • Written by from Calgary

Does not work on any of my devices with a case even Apples own leather iPhone case. Attention to detail was one of Apples greatest strength, didn't someone bother to think "hmmm will this overpriced accessory work with our other overpriced accessory?" Apple you were able to foresee the revolution in mobile computing but could not fathom that people would want to use a case with their devices? Complete FAIL! does not even deserve 1 star.

Does not work with 30 pin VGA Adapter

    • Written by from BARNSLEY

I bought one of these (over priced) adapters for my iPad Mini with Retina display in order to use my existing 30pin VGA adapter to show keynote presentations via a projector. I specifically asked the sales person if it would work for Keynote and he told me it would - well it does not. I get a "this accessory is not supported on this iPad" message. So the alternative is a lightning to VGA adapter. £25? Er, no that will be £40 sir ....!!

    works....sometimes....

    • Written by from Fort Bragg

I'm not very happy. I listen to podcasts in my car on my old ipod touch just fine...I got a iphone 5s, this adapter, and now it only works half the time.
Whenever I shut the car off and back on the podcast stops playing. Whenever I use the bluetooth phone the podcast stops and won't start playing unless I unplug and replug in the iphone....such a rip off!

    Smart Cover

    • Written by from Quebec

This adaptor is NOT working if you have the SMART Cover on your iPapAir, It just does not fit into the very small connecting location of the SMART cover. Get the alternative instead (Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (0.2 m))

    Stopped Working

    • Written by from Hazel Park

I can get over having to take my case off, not a big deal to me at all... my problem is I have been using this adapter for a month and it won't work anymore. I can use it on my Sony dock and it only charges now, I can't play my music anymore (just stopped, no reason just won't work now). I thought it was the dock so I bought a new Samsung dock, and the same thing. It will charge but won't play my music through the dock. Very annoying and a huge waste of $30. Disappointed with this Apple product.

Won't fit through the opening in Apple's own iPhone 5c case

    • Written by from Austin

Really? An Apple adapter that won't fit through an Apple case for the Apple iPhone 5c? And forget about the cable version of this Lightning-to-30-pin-adapter. I tried that, too and immediately got a note on my phone screen saying, "This accessory does not work with this device."

    Waste of money

    • Written by from beverley Park

I bought this to use on my Sony Docking station with 30 pin. Does not work at all, regardless, whether in or out of a case. Can't listen to music or charge. Would have given 0 points but not an option...

Should come as a free optional extra with new iPhones and iPads

    • Written by from New York

I bought this for $40. As others have said, it won't work if you have any kind of case on your phone. And it won't work with any kind of 30 pin AV adapter. More importantly, why should we be paying anything for an adapter that is only necessary because Apple decided to change the manner in which their new iPhones and iPads connect to accessories? So I have to buy this in order to: 1. connect my iPhone to my car's music system; 2. use the photo kit I previously bought to connect my iPad to my camera; 3. use the expensive speaker dock I bought to listen to music. On top of that, it's so tiny that I misplaced it, and now I have to buy another one. All for the privilege of using my pre-existing equipment. Can it really be worth $40? Or is this just gouging?

Wish I had read the reviews before I bought this adapter. I don't like spending $29.00 only to find out it will not work if your iPhone is in a case. Wasted money.

    Everyone else is correct

    • Written by from Skillman

There's a lot of reviews about how annoying the need to take off your iPod/iPhone case/cover/whatever is. Totally agree. I wouldn't have posted, but my annoyance is just that great and I needed to vent somewhere. Really Apple? Really. How hard would this have been? How was this not anticipated.

    Almost completely useless.

    • Written by from Petaling Jaya

This has got to be the most useless adapter ever made by Apple. It will NOT fit any Lightning device that has a case/sleeve/cover fitted as this adapter's Lightning end is too broad (like the old 30-pin iPod connector). This means that it is incompatible even with Apple's own Smart cases for the iPads and iPhone 5S/5C cases.

Only useful for totally naked/caseless/sleeveless Lightning based iDevices.

    What a rip off!

    • Written by from Surbiton

Poor show, Apple - after 20 years loyalty to your products, I was very disappointed when you decided to change the connection with the advent of iPhone 5, making it incompatible with my expensive Bose sound dock. Then you offer your customers this extremely poorly designed adaptor at a ridiculously high price. Stop taking us for granted.

Poorly designed and not compatible with all my devices

    • Written by from Droitwich Spa

I have been an Apple addict since 2007 and currently our household uses; 1 x iPhone 4, 1 x iPhone 4s, 1 x iPhone5, 1 x iPod classic (top of the range), 1 x iPad mini, 1 x iPad 2.... so, when realising that all our docking stations and chargers throughout the house would need an adapter to work with the new iPhone 5 and the iPad mini, I decided to take the (expensive) step of spending £25 on this tiny adapter which is fairly unsuitable for purpose.
First point: to use the adapter, all devices cannot be in a case (no matter how slim) as the wide section butts up against the base of the device.
Secondly: to use in any of our docking stations you now need to plug the adaptor in and then precariously balance your precious devices and hope that it doesn't either fall off, get knocked off, or damage the connector inside...
Finally (and most frustrating): this doesn't work with my in-car connection cable from the glove box (which works fine with previous devices) as it does play music (hurrah!) but doesn't charge - which is not ideal on the long journeys I do.
Poor show from Apple - can't understand why this was not better thought out.

Terrible Product- doesn't deserve one star

    • Written by from New Orleans

The adapter DOES NOT work consistently AT ALL. When I plug it into my iPhone 5s, I get the message, "this accessory is not supported by this device," even though the Lightning was bought from the Apple Store and it is connected to my old 4s charger from the Apple Store. When I remove my Speck case the Lightning works sometimes but not all the time. If Apple insist on charging $39.00 for an adapter it should be at minimum effective and reliable. I'm returning it.

Wont fit with APPLE branded cover

    • Written by from Coolum Beach

Very disappointed that it won't fit with my leather Apple branded and approved cover. Nor did the salesperson tell me that when I was specific about the task it was to perform [to change adapter in in car system]. I'll be returning it for the 200mm cable version. Wish I'd read the reviews first. So not up to Apples normal standards
