Wont charge when connected to cable, wont sync to dock

    • Written by from Saskatoon

This seems pretty useless. It won't charge the phone when used with a 30 pin cable, but it will charge and not sync to an iPod dock. Feels very flimsy as well, which is surprising for a genuine Apple product.

    waste of money.

I got an IPAD-mini and I use it for music purpose. It works with JUST a couple of devices. It costs really too much for a piece of plastic that is COMPLETELY USELESS!!!! This lightning connector is a HUGE pain in the a..

Doesn't support video, main reason why I bought it so we could watch movies from my iPad on our tv. We already have a iPad to hdmi adaptor, but this will not work with it!!!!!

I just got the iPhone 5 and I have a 30 pin cable in my bimmer. Thing cost me 150$ to install with the original sound system, so I came to the decision of just buying the adapter and using my phone to play music and hand down my iPod but to my surprise the adapter does NOT even play the audio. Charges my phone but doesn't play anything the only reason I bought this was for music from my phone. I was basically ripped off to charge my phone in the car when i could use the wall outlet charger almost anywhere! very disappointed apple very disappointed!

    Doesn't Fit

    • Written by from Novi

This adapter will not work if you have any case where the lightning section is smaller than the 30 pin adapter length, if the bottom of your case is open you'll be ok but it's rare to have that in any case. The pin section won't fit up against your phone and therefore won't work. You're stuck with using the cable, taking your phone in/out of the case or not using your old 30 pin accessories anymore. Bad design!

GARBAGE - Does NOT work on my IHome Radio/Clock + Case issues

    • Written by from Sterling Heights

I purchased this to dock my iphone5 to my Ihome Radio/Clock (Model #iH5B) while at work. Does NOT CHARGE or PLAY MUSIC through my radio / clock. Waste of money. Also, I have an Otterbox communter and this DOES NOT FIT the case. I had to take a dremmel and shave some of the hard plastic off the case it order for it to fit... Now I have a "Modified" case where the dust cover wont close, and a useless adapter. Definitley returning this

    Ended up in the trash

    • Written by from Calexico

Did not use it once. My iPhone has a case. It will not work with a case. You have to take the case out of the phone. I am not willing to do that. I tried to "fix" it by cutting it into shape. Just threw it in the trash. I only had it for 24 hours. Stupid Apple engineers. I cannot believe they're so short sighted. Wasted money.

It worked at first, but the little part that connects to your iphone broke off and was stuck. I got it out evenutally, but I would rather just buy a new charger to not have that problem!

    Help !

    • Written by from Haywards heath

After reading some of the reviews, about this product. I bought two, (very cheaply from ebay!) however when I plugged in iphone 5 nothing happened, ebay sent another, incase it was faulty, but it still didn't work. So I have just purchased a new speaker docking station which is for ipads, iphones and ipods, but still no music comes from the docking station ? (trying all 3 adapters) I'm wondering why it works for some and not others ? Have resorted to the standard 3.5mm jack cable, but would be nice to use the docking station as is intended. Pls Help !!

Does Not Work The Way Your Sales Team Said It Would

    • Written by from FRANKLIN

My original ipod went kaput. We struggled to come up with money to buy a new one and weren't sure we were going to since the new nano has the lightening pin. We feared having to buy all new accessories since my old ipod was set up with a dock at our Mac, another doc at our stereo which also had an aux cable hooked into our stereo and our tv and I had an fm transmitter/charger that allowed me to listen on the car stereo as well. Your sales team assured us that the 30 pin adapter would work with everything so we would not have to spend more than the $30 for the adapter. Guess what? IT DOESN'T WORK WITH ANYTHING. I can no longer listen to my ipod in the car. I can no longer listen to it on the stereo. I can no longer watch tv shows with it on my tv. All it will allow me to do is charge the ipod in the old dock. This was a total waste of money and time. And it just makes me miss my old ipod since this one is only good for listening with earphones. Big whoop.

    Doesn't fit with case

    • Written by from Ashland

I tried this with both a iPod 5th generation and my iPhone 5. The iPhone has a proper case, adn the iPod has a thin plastic case. In both cases, the converter was useless. I bought it to try and allow my daugther to use here iHome clock with her iPod 5th gen. Didn't work. This was a waste of $30.

Purchased this adaptor as part of my phone upgrade from a Iphone 3gs to the Iphone 5 for the purpose of continuing to utilise the dock of a Grundig DGR710DABIP digital radio we have. Unfortunately it doesn't work as we had expected as no audio is outputted with this adaptor.

    Doesn't work with anything!

    • Written by from Bozman

I have yet to be able to get my adapter to work with ANYTHING! First, I have to remove my case every time I try to use the adapter. Once I do that and try, nothing is compatible. I've tried my handheld project (spent ALOT on that for business presentations; HDMI converter to play movies, etc. on my TV (worked with the iPad 2 just fine); SD card adapter; and chargers. Nothing works. I get nothing or I get a message saying not compatible.

lightning adapter (the apple rip off scheme)

    • Written by from Sale

Like so many other people's reviews i have recently read I too bought the iPhone 5 adapter as assumed i could use my docking station on my very expensive Hi-Fi system only to find out (no surprise) apple have ripped everyone off again. I have to give this product at least 1 star but in my opinion i wouldn't even give it that!!!

Whether it's the official one or a cheap one they do not work!!! Annoyed with Apple that they expect us to fork out for a new generation ipod to find that the adapters don't work on most docking stations. I have resorted to using Auxiliary on all three of my ipod docking speakers it's the only way around it unless you have the money to fork out for a new ones.

This is my 3rd IPhone, and have always be pleased with the phone as well as accessories. No more, Went to my local AT&T store to upgrade to the I5. I also purchased a new SPECK cover that is designed for the I5. My husband inquired about an adapter to put into my other car charger that went with my 4S. Was told no problem so I purchased the adapter for $29.. The only problem is it will not hook up to my phone because it does NOT extend far enough to go into the plug opening. I am returning it to my dealer.....So it's not compatible..really

    Overpriced w/limited compatibility

    • Written by from Rochester

Have major investment in Bose Soundock & Pioneer Car stereo w/30 pin iPod/iPhone connections, sound & controls work fine but they do not charge my iPod. For the jerk calling us morons, not everyone goes out & replace everything to match some new technology, & there is very little directly supporting Lightning right now. Not charging my iPod is a BIG thing to me, especially after spending $29 for a small but wide chunk of plastic that I had to carve part of my 1st case to be able to use it.
