Works with mercedes 350 30 pin

    • Written by from MESQUITE

Love to listen to books on tape and bought this to be able to play them through my stereo system in my 2009 m350 which is equipped with the 30 pin adapter. It works fine. I'm sure it's less expensive that havering mercies refit it and I can still use my 30 pin devices. Totally satisfied.

    Exactly what I needed

This adapter does exactly what the description says it will do. My car is wired for the old 30 pin iPhone and iPod. When I got the iPhone 5 this small adapter perfectly converted my 30 pin so I can now play music through my iPhone 5 in my car.

    Does the Job

    • Written by from Griffin

I must say that I got this device to use it in the way it was meant to be used: charging, syncing, and playing audio. I have mine for some while now (since I purchased my iPad air the day it came out) and i like it. It works and does what the DESCRIPTION says it will do well for me. I knew I would not be able to use a case with this adapter which was find with me because I was mainly using it with my docking station at night. I mean you're connecting a 30 pin to 8 pin, there's a big difference in size. Which I understand this may be a deal breaker for some, just not for me in my case. It's not like I use an Otterbox with my iPad and it's going to take me several minutes to get it on and off. I use a smart cover with a clear back case.

I've seen a lot of people complaining because they can't play video with this device that clearly states in the description that it doesn't support video output. Um I don't know what to say about that. I do see a adapter that can be used for that in the Apple Store. So I can't speak on that other than the fact it states that it will not support VIDEO OUTPUT.

So basically if you are looking for an adapter to connect to old accessories from previous apple products to: listen to music, charge, or sync than this is the product for you. Otherwise you may want to do a little research and be sure to read before purchasing. Also it states that it may not work properly with all accessories...

    Should read before I bought

I bought this thing when I upgraded my phone. The person at the Store never said anything about it not working with a case on it.. So I asked him. he told me it would be fine. I have a slim silicone case I bought at the store as well.
I have tried for 3 weeks to get this thing to work. I went on the web site to see if there were any others having the same problem.
sure enough I took the case off and it worked...
REALLY?? I am thinking the young man was worried I wouldn't buy his bundle if I knew I had to take the case off.. Not true. I would have bought it anyway. this entire time I thought I had paid 30.00 and got faulty equipment.

    Exactly What I Needed

    • Written by from Deerfield

Purchased this adapter to connect to my iPhone 5s to my car stereo system. Have a hard wired 30 pin cable in my car that connects to audio system. This adapter is exactly what I needed to play music. I can control my iPhone 5s music using the steering wheel or the audio units controls. The other reviews were correct in that the case interferes with the connection, which was the same with my iPhone 4s. Would highly recommend the Apple adapter.

Great Product Unfair reviews regarding cases..

    • Written by from Ipswich

I have this adapter and works perfectly. Obv not with a case but then A) No one said it would work with a case on

    B) Its not feasible to create and adapter to work with 1000's of third party cases.

Also the 0.2M one is available which will fit if your charger fits through your case.

Works with case on!! :) After reading a ton of reviews stating this adapter does not fit with a case on, I was skeptical. But having the adapter was a necessity not an option for me so I took the chance. I am happy to report the adapter plugged into my IPHONE 4S WITH A CASE ON! I have the Incase Slider case on my iphone 4s and can still plug this adapter into my phone with no problems while the case is still on. My slider case is not a snap on case, it covers all borders of the bottom of the phone and the adapter still plugs in with it on. Hope this helps all those debating to buy because of their case.

    Works perfectly with iPhone 5s

    • Written by from Allentown

I can use this in my car with my Auxiliary & Charging unit, it works just like the old adapter. I can use this with my Bose Sound Dock unit, just like the old adapter. The Lightning adapter works perfectly with every device I had used when I had the old adapter, no problems at all. Very simple to just plug it in with the old adapter on one side and plug the other side to the bottom of my iPhone 5s. The only thing that was kind of annoying is, I believe Apple should have included this adapter as a standard item in the packaging of their new iPhone 5 models. I have also heard that Apple won't be making any new changes to the new adapters over the next 10 years, which is good, since they get kind of costly at $29.00. Well, I'm not sure what some of the problems were that others wrote about in the other reviews, but I see no problems at all and it's simple to make the change with the Lightning adapter. Just be sure to purchase the adapter from Apple and not some cheaper store, so that you know your getting the correct adapter. Also, be careful what kind of phone covers you buy, get a phone cover that allows you to plug the adapter in. Hope this helps!

Works great and saved me a couple hundred dollars

    • Written by from Gresham

I bought one of these adaptors for my Kenwood stereo in my car. I had already ordered this one from apple when I got my iPhone 5s but stopped by the place I had the deck installed a couple years ago. They were nice enough to loan me a similar adaptor that did not work with my new phone. When I got this adaptor a couple days later I decided to give it a shot since I notice the one I was loaned was not made by apple, It worked! There was no problem for my older deck to connect to my phone and I tested numerous time to make sure I was giving you hope for you older iPod capable devices.

There are a lot of poor reviews for this adaptor but I think that most of those have more to do with the customer choosing the correct adaptor for their situation. Many of the reviews I saw should have chosen the Lightning to 30‑pin Adapter cable instead of this one.

Great Device if it Fits Your Needs

    • Written by from Stokesdale

I bought 2 of these when they first came out. At first I was a little disappointed with them thinking they would not fit through my cases/covers but, as it turns out, they fit just fine. Perhaps a little snug for some cases but they still worked great. What I love most about these devices is that I can switch between old and new technology with the same cable, especially if I'm on the road and don't want to carry a bunch of cables. I'm buying 2 more now because I have more places where I can use them. Just make sure it will fit your needs and will work with your setup before buying.

    Perfect for my car charger

    • Written by from Wyckoff

This works great with my case. I needed one for my car charger and this is perfect plus I can take it with me if I need to. A little pricey at $30 but it seems like that is the standard with apple. I can only imagine what we will have to buy for the 6 cause all the other stuff is not compatible. I do love my Mac though and when I have to use a pc it's torture!

This adapter does exactly what it's supposed to do... I've used it with old dock cables, but it really came in handy with my Logitech PureFi alarm clock, and now with my iHome iA100 system. All features work on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini. Even enhanced features like updating the iA100's firmware.

A little expensive, but well worth the money!

    • Written by from Stratford upon Avon

Purchased this adapter to connect my new iPhone 5 to my car radio system. Works perfectly, and the sound appears better now than it did from my old iPhone.
Take it from me, don't bother with those cheap 'copy' items sold elsewhere, if you want to connect your iPhone 5 to any audio device which only has the 30-pin plug, then this is the adapter to buy!

PS. Remember that if your iPhone 5 is in a case, you will either need to modify it, or replace it with one that has a larger slot to accept the width of this adapter.

    Works well

    • Written by from COCKEYSVILLE

Ok let me start off by saying this... You must be a few fries short of a happy meal if you think this adapter is going to work with all cases. This adapter is OBVIOUSLY not going to work with all cases just because of its size. I could tell it wasn't going to fit my LifeProof case so I had two choice. Return the adapter or the case. I returned the case and went carbon fiber skins to protect the phone since I don't drop my phone, leave it on the hood of my car and drive off and I don't go swimming with it. If your cellphone is your main source of communication then you will cherish it with or without a case. Apple designs the iPhone to stand out from the crowd. Someone a few hundred feet away can tell you're using an iPhone unlike others. This adapter works perfectly as it is designed and use in the proper way. Don't give it a negative review because you can't simple look at the adapter and see if it'll work with your shield, bumper, or heavy duty case. Normally speaking this adapter is slightly cheaper than the charger itself. ESP the car charger. So you have to think will you need to use the 30 pin adapter again like if you have an iPod classic, Nano's or iPhone 4 or 4s's or an older version of the iPad 2. If you said he's to any of those then you need to purchase the adapter and that's your best solution. If you say no then it's up to you depending on the case you're using. I can tell you right off the bat it won't work with LifeProof cases, otterboxes's or any other case that sticks out a few millimeters. If you're using an extremely thin case or as case that doesn't cover up the bottom of the phone then this is your best option so you won't have to carry multiple cords on you. Would you rather carry a cord or a small adapter? I would rather carry the adapter. It work well for me and I have the iPhone 5 and iPad MINI. Think logically before our basing or leaving a negative one sides review. This is meant to help people and not be a public complaint center. If you're here to complain then you're in the wrong place as it says "reviews" not opinions/complaints.

It Works well with my AT&T car charger

    • Written by from Covington

This adapter work very well with my AT&T car charger that I bought with my first iPhone 3G. The Charger has an area for the UBS port but that took forever to charge, like snail-mail. So I bought the adapter an the re-charging is lightning fast. I haven't used it with my Scull Candy speakers. I also have a case on my iPhone5 and found no difficulties. You just need to make sure the area where the adapter inserts is clear to accept the device completely.

Does exactly what I want to

    • Written by from Felixstowe

After having read negative reviews, regarding this product, I was a bit dubious about getting one, but the guy in the shop convinced me it would work as I wanted it to.

I plugged it into the 30pin lead on my car stereo & lo & behold my sound system plays the music from my iPhone 5 & charges it, just like it did with my iPhone 4. Happy days

As per the fitting while the phone is in a case, fortunately my phone cover is open at the bottom so the jack plug, charging port & speaker holes are exposed. This in turn means this adaptor fits snugly even while the phone is in the protective cover. I can understand that this product wouldn't fit if the protective cover was an all over one.

Use a slim cover, i.e., RingkeSlim.! I'm sure there's other brand out there. You got to be creative & resourceful. Buy this adapter, a bit more expensive but they work. You can buy knock offs but you will have problem with them.
