Reviews for iPad Smart Cover - Polyurethane - Dark Grey

No it doesn't protect the back and it does come off ipad easily but users who complain should do some research before buying. I love mine. It makes propping my ipad for viewing movies or typing easy. I went to iskins and bought their case made to work with the smart cover. This eliminates the smart cover from coming off, it is extremely secure. My only problem with the smart cover is that it seems to wear out easily. I have only been using it for a week and a half and it is already starting to bend out of shape in one area that bends to support propping. Maybe I should have bought one of the leather ones instead of the polyurethane one? I'm happy enough with it that if another better case isn't made for the ipad 3 I will buy a leather one when this one is no longer usable.

I purchased the "smart" cover at the same time I ordered my iPad2 online but I guess I did not study about this product in detail.
I hate the fact that it does not protect the back of the iPad.
I hate the fact that the magnets are so weak and dose not stay or stand firmly.
I trusted Apple but I was disappointed this time..

I think it is a great way to cover\protect your iPad's screen. My iPad is never without it.

I bought my iPad smart cover (product red) when I purchased my iPad 2, and it was a wonderful thing, I was completely in love with it, it worked amazing, but when I decided to upgrade to the 3rd generation iPad, it's been a nightmare the cover somehow does not stay on like it did with the iPad 2, any little movement it comes of, specially trying to move it when watching a movie, I have dropped my iPad due to this, I guess the magnets are not as strong as before or maybe it does not make contact as it did before, so I would not recommend this case for the new iPad, because you will have problems with it, as I did!

While the design is visually appealing and clever, the actual experience is anything but satisfactory. The magnet that holds the cover to the iPad is not very strong. Several times each day, the cover and the iPad disconnect from each other which often means the iPad falls whatever distance to the nearest surface. It also disconnects when it is in my purse or laptop bag. I have scratched my screen as items shift in my bag and the screen is no longer protected. You can find much better options with a google search.

i bought this because of the bulk of my griffin intellicase..bad decision

just 2 days of use later the back is filled with scratches..i have to carry it around like a delicate piece of equipment, even when handling the case, the magnets aren't strong enough to hold while watching movies. for the price its NOT worth it.

yeah the no bulk is a great factor and the suede cleans the screen but if you already have a screen protector the suede does nothing and even if you don't, all you'll get is dust on the screen which the suede will help in comparison to a regular magnetic on/off case.

i am a 100% apple customer, own everything by them and love everything, but this was a disappoinment

This was a waste of money. The magnet is weak. Stand function is weak. Protection is far from sufficient. Definitely not a good option if kids will be using it. I upgraded from the original iPad and case and there weren't many Apple-recommended options. Throwing this one away and buying a 3rd party case.

Works well; protects screen when your not using it, and is a good stand. Does show dirt on lighter colors, so buy the darker ones.

The Smart Cover improves the iPad experience. Definitely worth the investment.

keeps falling off easily, not sure if I received a flawed one or it is the same for every smart cover. Extremely disappointed.
