im a teen that had to pay 80 dollars for a charger

    • Written by from knoxville

My school gave us Macbook Airs for school use. I am in high school and have had the charger since september and all of a sudden the wires became exposed and I had to use the money i'm saving for college to buy a new charger. They need to make a charger that lasts longer

ITEM HAD MELTED ITSELF IN SEVEN DAYS

    • Written by from Lucerne

Absolutely dissatisfied with this item. Had gotten it on the 14th, and within seven days, the charger had caused damage to itself. Over the weekend it stopped charging properly and I had decided to call after the holiday was over, but that was a mistake.

    MacBook air 45w charger

    • Written by from VILLA PARK

Both my boys' charges broke within a year. I thought it must be their faults until I read the feedback. Apparently this is a huge problem. Apple needs to fix this.

    Great stuff

    • Written by from Chicago

I've owned Apple products for over 20 years. Each year new and better products keep coming out. I'm a proud owner of a MBA late 2010 and simply love it. I also own 2 power chargers, the original and the extra one for my office. Both continue to work great. Both with power surge protection. If you do not have a power surge protector with it and have a power failure, the minute the power comes back on - you will receive a power surge which is death to the charger. In my opinion, don't blame apple for your faults, sorry. I must admit that I had a Titanium PowerMac where I had issues which I sent to Apple Care. I also sent in my charger. They repaired the PowerMac and replaced my frail charger "at no cost" because part of apple care. So buy your Apple Care. It's worth its weight in gold.
    Peace to all.

this is the worst apple product

    • Written by from medellin

i own every apple product and im a big fan of their divises never the less i hate the macbook chargers because it doent last more than 6 month, and is really expensive to get a new one. apple should have an extended warranty for this product and replace all defective inventory.

2nd one died in a year.

    • Written by from Cupertino

This is a very poor quality product. Apple should recall them and replace with a version that lasts more than a year.

    Price Gouging to the max!

    • Written by from BULLABURRA

I thought I'd buy a 'spare' charger to keep in my 'take away' box for holidays or emergencies, but $90!!! Seriously? This is nothing but price gouging by Apple, and potential Macbook buyers should be aware of it before they buy into the 'Apple ecosystem'. (bet they don't publish this one...)

    Compact and very efficient

    • Written by from Sandy

This could be smaller, but probably with difficulty and by reducing the quality. I used mine for 15 months before it started to have problems withe cable where it exits the block. Apple replaced it immediately and I am very happy.

    Power Brick Scam

    • Written by

I can't believe I'm going to have to buy a fourth power brick. I've been treating them with paranoid levels of caution because they break so easily and cost so much. Can't somebody create a reasonable alternative at a reasonable price? Apple should be taken to task for foisting such junk on loyal customers.

    Only Apple Junk I Own

    • Written by from St.John's

On the day my MacBook Air turned 1 year old my power cord started to fray at the connection to the block. Now a few days later it is dead.

By comparison my 5-year-old MacBook Pro cord is still going strong with no signs of wear. This is the only disappointment I have had with Apple in the 5 years I have been buying their products (MBPro, 2 x iPhones, 3 x iPads, MBAir).

    Great idea but barely works!

    • Written by from Rockhampton

I bought my macbook air late february 2012 love my mac but hate the power adapter, its a great idea how its magnetic and when animals run past and get caught on the cord it just flies out not like a windows computer and take the computer with it i love that bit but if i move a computer while its plugged in even slightly it would stop charging and usually takes a while to make it start charging again this is EXTREMELY ANNOYING i wish apple made a power adapter that was not so unreliable with their laptops

Bad product with a ridiculous price

    • Written by from Bangalore

I have been having the adapter for almost 12 months now for my Air Mac and the wire is very frail. It has developed cracks and I have been managing some how. Looking at the price of the adapter I am sure it's definitely not worth it.

    Terrible Quality

    • Written by from Seattle

As much as I love my Macbook Air, the power cord is piece of absolute rubbish. I'm on my third cord in just over a year. The rubber on both have failed (at about 3 months old) up near where it plugs into the computer, leaving the wires exposed. I have repaired both with electrical tape, but after a couple months both have quit working altogether. This is completely unacceptable for a $79.00 product.

Excellent - never had an issue

    • Written by from Airdrie

I'm not sure what the other reviewers are doing to their adapters, but mine has not only never caused an issue, but it has worked brilliantly for three years including multiple international travels every year, being used with converters in many countries, being wrapped up and packed up and unpacked thousands of times, and even recently getting caught in a hoover and sucked entirely in. I had to painstakingly unwrap it and pull it out, and afterwards it still worked like a charm.

    Terrible product

    • Written by from Port Moody

I bought my MacBook Air in April and the wire began to fray in September. It's unfortunate that the charger for such a great product is so awful. Now I have to go out and buy a new one.

    failed after a few months

    • Written by from Lawrenceville

This adapter started having issues within a few months, then after seeming doing OK for some time (few more months) it died. We are all paying premium prices for Apple products. Reliability is the must.

    Absolutely terrible quality

    • Written by from sale

I have to agree with other reviewers. I need a new one only after one year. Why Apple has made chargers into a consumable? It is truly surprising how bad the quality of this product is.

Wires exposed in less than a year

    • Written by from Orlando

My experience is the same as the others. My wires are exposed near the connection point. This happened very suddenly. I use my Air at home only and the cord is not wrapped up, so not sure how it happened. I have had no problem with the power, however, believe it is a fire hazard. The white casing around the wire is now a nice light brown color around the break. Very, very poor job on Apple's part. Fix it please!
