    Not Reliable

The sensor is very unreliable. On several runs the sensor just stopped recording. Once the time recorded but the distance didn't. It's just not reliable for keeping a history of your running since you are not able to edit mistakes that the device makes.

    Connectivity problems

I have been using the Nike + iPod Sensor for a month along with my Iphone 3GS. The most important problem I have is connectivity. Before I start a workout, the application allegedly detects the sensor. But once I start the workout the applications fails to measure my speed or distance. Apparently it looses connectivity. This happened to me already several times. An easy fix is to double check your sensor is working once you start running, but this is annoying as I use another application to train. Moreover, the nike webpage gives you very little info about the actual speed and pace during your workout.

I really, really love this accessory. I've only logged 40 miles or so on mine so far, but it's made such a difference in my approach to running. I love the instant feedback, and it's tracking capabilities, and syncing it to Nike really helps me target my weak points in my run. Since upgrading to iOS 4 on my 3Gs, I've noticed that sometimes it can be buggy, but I find that if I simply restart the app it does fine. Seamless tracking and feedback from a reliable product. THANKS!!

I have bought 2 of the sensors for the shoe and both times they didn't work right out of the package. Its kinda like a crapshoot whether or not they work. I think it is a great concept but they need to address this inefficiency in order to have confidence int he product. Please fix it 'cause I love to use it (when it works)

    Great Idea Poorly Executed

I really wanted to love this thing the way that I love my macbook pro and my iphone but I can't. There are times when it is hit or miss and I constantly walk around in circles trying to calibrate it and nothing happens. Additionally the battery life on this thing is something that needs to be addressed. I can deal with buying a new one yearly but surely there has got to be a someway apple can put an LED on there to let you know the battery is dying or running low. I also don't like the on off button simply because I can't tell if the thing is on or off. Again, an LED light or an ON OFF switch would be more user friendly. That said, when you can get it to work it does it's job and does it pretty well. I just expect it to be more simple from the company that told me to THINK DIFFERENT.

I would not recommend this product it is inaccurate at tracking the distance you run. I have calibrated the sensor but it seems to be off still. Last one i will buy.

This device is great. I use the nano, so I usually buy the set but have purchased this individually when it has died. It is amazing. You must calibrate it for accuracy but if you know the distance of a short sprint or if you have a track you can calibrate on, it works great. Once it's calibrated it works great & gives you everything you need to know about your run. The website keeps track of it all and everything organized. Absolutely no complaints about this product!

This product works great with my ipod touch (2nd gen.). I just bought the extra sensor since my ipod touch has a built in remote.

I'm no hardcore runner, but worked really well.

I figured I'd like to try out this little gadget with my iPhone. Now, I'm no hardcore runner, and for the most part don't really have a desire to run more than a mile at a time, but this device worked really well while I was testing it out. Since I don't have Nike+ shoes, I carved a hole in my old, but in good condition Asics. The sensor fit snuggly in my homebrew "plus shoes" and the accuracy was within the 10% threshold everyone has been saying, but that was before calibration. It should be noted that this device is great for really anyone - those who enjoy running every day, or those who like to take the dog on a brisk walk, like myself. My only complaint is the fact that many feel turned off by the fact that it is designed to work primarily with Nike+ shoes. Running a high price-tag, those shoes can make this simple trying out of a nifty gadget a expense that turns off many who want to try this. Also, with attaching it to the back of your shoe, under the laces, or even inside the tongue, accuracy is reduced. The only way to get guarantied quality recording is to buy a Nike+ pair of shoes, or cut a hole in your existing running shoes - which is not for the faint of heart. Overall, I give this product a 5 on the grounds that it does what it is supposed to do under the conditions that it is supposed to function in.

The sensor could not connect to the receiver no matter how hard i tried and after extensive research online this problem occurred with many thousands of people online. I wouldn't recommend this because im out 30 bucks but im trying to save you the hassle.

    Accuracy

    • Written by from RATHMINES

I have found the sensor to be inaccurate especially when running up and down hills. It is fun though and keeps me motivated. Its inaccuracy is fine as long as it tells you that you are going faster than you really are and not the other way round.

    Great except for the battery

    • Written by from Lexington

I love the technology and having it posted to facebook motivates one to keep going. The only bad thing is the battery isn't replaceable. Apple likes to be "green" but making a product that you have to throw away and buy a new one when the battery dies isn't at all "green". Furthermore, when buying new, not all batteries are the same. Some last a year. Some don't. Perhaps some are on the shelf longer and get moved around to activate their battery? No idea, but all sensors are NOT equal in their life span. Apple REALLY NEEDS TO USE A REPLACEABLE BATTERY!

    Awesome, But Register It!!

Obviously, when it's working, it rules. Everyone who runs with Nike+ will tell you the same thing: it makes fun runs more fun and training - for speed, distance or both - way easier.

ONE THING: make sure you register it as soon as you buy it. It says it has 1000 hours of juice but mine ran out of batteries long before that. It has a year-long warranty and most of the time if the battery isn't up to snuff, you'll know before then. If you register, Apple is amazing about giving you a new one. If you don't register? You're definitely in trouble.

I bought this sensor a few days ago and I just love it. I can listen to my music, while my Ipod and my sensor keeps track of my running.

That means, that I don't have to pay attention to my watch anymore, because I just select the 30 minutes workout and my Ipod tells me, when I have to turn around.

This is a great product ... and works seamlessly with my iPod touch 3rd generation. Great tool to keep your exercise on track. I did have some problems syncing data to Nikeplus.com, but it's all good now.

    Terrible Transferability

This is a wonderful product until you try to upload your workout stats to your computer. Most of the time the moment that the Nike+ sync transmitter is disconnected from your iPod, all information is lost. If this could be rectified it would be stellar.
