    Many hidden features

    • Written by from Village of Lakewood

QuickTime Pro not only is good for simple conversions and editing, but it has an incredible amount of power that I discovered when I got a book for iMovie. The book kept showing how to do very advanced editing techniques using QuickTime so you could put edited clips into iMovie. QuickTime Pro is actually a very advanced editing program. The only issue is the user interface isn't very Mac like.

QuickTime 7 Pro - Should be withdrawn

    • Written by from Sheffield

I have just wasted my money on QuickTime 7 Pro for Mac OS X.

I bought it to encode Cinepac AVI files as I had read misleading information indicating that it would be capable of that. It doesn't create avi files (even though it will create cinepac mov files).

As far as I can see there are very few people who will get any value from this old and now useless software. In fact I think it is a con. There is too little information available about what it can and can't do - and don't even think you can get a refund if it doesn't do what you need it to.

Apple: Please withdraw this from sale (offer it for free) rather than upset your loyal fan base.

    I feel ripped off!

price differential between US and AUS

    • Written by from Preston

    Hi,
I went to buy this product after seeing it on the US apple store site (directed there by a google search) and was wrapped to see what looks like a great program, from Apple which I can trust right?) for 25 dollars. Unfortunately when I went to buy the product, it directed me to the Aus store where the same product, with the same digital download, costs me 45 dollars.

The Australian dollar is currently 5% higher than the grenback, so where is the differential in the pricing, if not price gouging based on geography?

This is realy poor service from Apple, and if they don't do something about Australians being "bent over" on pricing, the next computer will be PC

    Why $15 more in Australia?

    • Written by from Sydney

Why does US$30 equate to A$45? Especially weird when it's a string of numbers we're buying!

    Great for simple editing tasks

    • Written by from Tualatin

QT7 Pro will do simple editing without transcoding, so it is lossless and fast. Great for trimming or extracting portions of videos. It also does very flexible transcoding. It isn't a replacement for iMovie nor is it for screen captures.

Here's hoping Apple either keeps this running forever or brings QuickTime X up to its capabilities (which so far doesn't seem to be happening).

Great product but recently broken with Lion Updates

    • Written by from Randwick

A lion update on my matchbook pro has caused QT 7 to display a green screen only when paused or scrubbing. This is the cause according to all the forums anyway. Otherwise playing is fine. Makes the product a bit useless though for any quick editing. Hopefully there'll be an update soon?

Buyer beware - Current version is broken when editing Audio back to a video

    • Written by from West Hollywood

The "pass through" feature is broken in this current version (7.6.6). You won't be able to save audio if you add it to a video clip using the "pass through" feature.

    Export Not work on lion

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I wish I could give a zero star for this program. It is absolutely waste of investing. Stop working when I upgrade the system to Lion, and now the export function stop working, which was the main reason why I purchase this app in the first place. :(

Double the prince in New Zealand!

    • Written by from Dunedin

Why is QT Pro nearly double the price in NZ. $30 US does not equal $55 NZ...it's about $36. US Store will only let US residents purchase it. Sigh.

    Classic

    • Written by from Columbus

I've used QT Pro for years (the same version), and find it extremely useful for video compression. I just had to buy it for work to encode streaming .MOVs & it does the job without a bunch of bells & whistles. It gives you more options than any of the free file conversion applications available.

I was disappointed with this program. I was able to edit my videos, but when I wanted to burn them to a DVD I just couldn't. Please advice.
