The Nike+iPod Sport Kit that I bought doesn't indicate it is compatible with iPhone 3GS......Is the sport kit an older version?
- Asked by Kinley R from Edmond
- Oct 13, 2009
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
You didn't need to purchase the Sports kit, as the iPhone 3GS already has the receiver built in. You could've just purchased the transmitter, which would've saved you $AUD20. Either way, the transmitter, which came in the sports kit, will work with your iPhone.

Will the Nike + iPod Sport Kit work with the new iPhone 4?
I have the first generation iTouch & unfortunately the Nike + iPod Sport Kit won't work with it. I'm hoping to get the new iPhone 4 as soon as I am eligible for an upgrade in October, but it doesn't seem as though it would. Please help!

You don't need the sport kit, the receiver is already built into the iPhone 4 - just buy the Nike + iPod Sensor.

Will this system work using an elliptical trainer?
Will Nike + iPod Sport kit work wile exercising on an elliptical trainer?

Answer
Nope! there isn't enough force on the down step to trigger the sensor (elliptical trainers are considered low impact for this very reason).

Will this device alert you for interval training?
As in, can I set it so that I may run for 10 minutes, walk for 30 seconds for the duration of my run?
- Asked by Heather M from Calgary

Answer
I've tried this out with my 3GS on iOS4 and a feature for interval training is currently unavailable. It's a feature I think is lacking, since for serious runners, interval training is a key component. I hope this is eventually added, otherwise like most of us, we'll continue to use a training watch.
FYI: there is an app in the App Store that uses GPS for tracking your run, which includes an interval training feature. This might be an option for runners using their iPhone.- Answered by Alan C from Brooklin

Best Answer
Apple currently does not sell the receiver without the sensor so you will have to find the one you had or buy a new sport kit with both the receiver and the sensor

Do you need the receiver if you have an iPod Nano 5G?
In order to get all of the Nike+ data, do you need to buy the entire sport kit or will the Sensor alone be good enough?
- Asked by Long N from Palo Alto
- Oct 26, 2009

Best Answer
The information is troublesome.
I found out that you need the receiver and the sensor if you want to use that service.
The nano 5g does not connect to the sensor without a reveiver.
However they do sell sensors piece but not the receivers. So to get a receiver you need to buy the whole kit with both of 'm..... duhhh!- Answered by Mark K

This answer is related to the Nike+iPod on the iPhone.
I initially had this problem. The Nike app isn't downloadable from the iTunes store. Its actually a pre-installed setting but it may be off by default. Go into Settings icon and scroll down till you see the Nike+iPod option. Open it and turn it on. You should also be able to change other Nike+iPod settings like power song, which voice you want for feedback, the units for measuring distance and pairing the remote with the sensor.
N.B. When the nike option in general settings is turned on a nike+iPod icon will appear somewhere on your home screens.- Answered by Jason G
