I have both and the really are very similar in most respects. One difference I noticed is the Fusion is a little choppy when moving Windows around in Coherence mode while Parallels is smooth.

My one big disappointment with Fusion over Parallels is that Fusion only supports 256MB of video memory while Parallels 7 supports up to 1 GB. This can make a big difference for gamers.

  • Very similar products, with a big difference: with VMware Fusion you can play your virtual machines also on Windows or Linux hosts (using VMWare Workstation (paid) or VMWare Player (free)), except for VMs running MacOSX (obviously :-)).

  • They are generally similar products, in that they accomplish the same thing. Running different OSs virtually. The features are very similar and of course they are many differences. You would have to get a product sheet to do a good comparison. But either should be fine.
