do the mini displayport support audio?

back in the days MDP was 1.1

but now MDP is at v 1.2 which carries digital audio so i want to know if these support audio.

    Yes.. the 5870 has this on its board... Since the 2010 mac pro is really the 2009 mac pro just with a firmware update for westmere support.. uses the same backplane logic board and same processor trays - MDP is not on the logic board, it is in the GPU and yes, it will work..

  • For those installing this card into a MacPro 2006 model (1,1), the audio portion of the MD ports is currently non-functional. It is most likely that this is the case in the "supported" Mac Pros as well. Hopefully with an OS update in the future (with any luck, 10.6.5) we will get audio output through the MDP connections.
