Learn more about AirPort Extreme

  • Ultrafast 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

With 802.11ac technology and a powerful beamforming antenna array, AirPort Extreme gives you up to 3x faster Wi-Fi and a stronger, clearer signal.1 And because it transmits at both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies at the same time, your wireless devices will automatically connect to the best available band for the fastest performance possible.

    Designed with performance in mind.

With the antennas at the top of the elevated design, AirPort Extreme now has a higher platform for dispersing the signal. We also increased the number of antennas. There are now six of them — three for the 2.4GHz band and three for the 5GHz band. Together with 802.11ac technology, they let you connect faster, farther, and with more power than ever before.

Easy setup for iOS and OS X.

Connect your DSL or cable modem to AirPort Extreme and use the built-in setup assistant to create your new wireless network in just a few taps from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you’re using a Mac, use the built-in AirPort Utility. Setup is just as fast and just as easy.

Share your hard drive or printer.

AirPort Extreme can turn any external USB hard drive into a secure drive you can share across your Wi-Fi network. So all the documents, videos, photos, and other files instantly become available to anyone, Mac and PC users alike. You can even connect a printer and share it wirelessly.

    Compatibility and security.

Any Wi-Fi device you have will work with AirPort Extreme. That’s because it’s compatible with devices using the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, and 802.11ac specifications. And since AirPort Extreme features a built-in firewall that protects your network from malicious Internet attacks, you can enjoy the web with peace of mind.

Just replaced my AP Extreme (Gen 5) and compared to that its much faster. Range wise, I haven't found much of an improvement, but then again it could be my house. I still have to use another AP EXPRESS to extend my network in my house. Simple to set it up and looks good too.

Signal strength is awesome everywhere on my property and the speed is too! But the best thing is now, my Apple TV works like it should!!!! five stars!!!!!

Simply the best managed 4 port wireless switch out there. I know it's expensive, but even Windows users should consider this. The Simply the best managed 4 port wireless switch out there. I know it's expensive, but even Windows users should consider this. The range is simply unmatched by anything else. Three of these will cover the upstairs AND downstairs of a house with Faraday walls. Can't recommend it enough.

  • Fixed all problems with BT Home Hub 5

Like many others here I bought this to replace a BT HomeHub that was performing terribly and would drop wireless to the Apple TV i Like many others here I bought this to replace a BT HomeHub that was performing terribly and would drop wireless to the Apple TV if someone even just looked at their phone.

Set up was done in about 5 minutes. Just plug the WAN of the Airport into one of the LAN ports on the Home Hub (you will need a CAT 5 ethernet cable, not included). Open wifi settings on your iPhone and there will be an option to set it up from there. No admin login or BT username / password required.

Every device on the network now performs perfectly with no loss of signal or random moments of slow download speeds. Inc: iPhone 6, iPhone 4S, iPad Air, Sony Vaio Windows 7, MacBook Pro, some crummy Android phone (not mine I swear!), an Apple TV and a Sony PS4. All connected at once sometimes and nothing goes wrong.

Yes it's expensive, but it's well worth it. Stop looking at it and wondering wether to buy it or not and just get one.
