Apple Remote with iPod and iPhone
If you connect your iPod to a home stereo, powered speakers or TV set, the Apple Remote lets you experience your songs, slide shows and more from across the room. Plug your iPod into the Universal Dock and choose a play list, slide show or video. Then sit back, relax and enjoy. Ready to move on to the next song? No need to get up. Just press the Next button on the Apple Remote. Getting a call on your iPhone? Press Pause, then pick up where you left off.
The Apple Remote requires the iPod Universal Dock and any iPod with a dock connector, or any iPhone.
Apple Remote with Mac
The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It works with Front Row - a menu-based, full-screen interface - to make accessing the digital content on your Mac as simple as navigating your iPod. When you press the Menu button, your desktop fades and the sleek, Front Row interface takes its place, to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Videos folder and your DVDs. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slide show, a home video that you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.
Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver.

I was disapointed when i bought this wonderful remote and tried to put it on the side of my iMac like i did for my old ine. Wrong first of all the back surface is not flat its curvedd for design which doesnt have enough surface area to stick to the side of the imac.Later I tried sticking a stronger extrenal magnet to it and fould out its not magnetic at all. I thought it was magnetic.Overall it's a great remote and i like the ipod click wheel volume control too! …More

Good Remote

Just arrived this morning, was a bit hesitant in ordering as there were conflicting opinions if this would work with my mackbook 13 alu, fortunately once i waded through the large amount of packaging and the very large box it come in i just pointed at the mackbook and it went straight into frontrow, works like a charm straight out of the box 5 stars for apple product, 1 star for the amount of excessive packaging they sent it in, thought that they were supposed to be reducing packaging on all of their products?
Anyway works brilliantly now i can enjoy watching and listening to my music remotely, yes i know that you can do this with the iphone app it just looks so much better in front row, again 5 stars for apple. …More1 of 2 people found this useful

3 Stars for a reason

I've had the previous generation of the Apple Remote and I prefer that to the new one. I find the new one big and no additional features have been added. Would have been good to have the iPod Nano like click wheel feature added - however I guess Apple have been so focussed on the aluminium design that they couldn't have bothered upgrading it.
If you've never owned an Apple remote - you will probably like it. If you've got an older one, don't bother upgrading as it has zero, zilch, nada additional benefits over the older one. …More5 of 5 people found this useful

Written by KN from Mississauga

I just received this in the mail, and haven't even tried it on my new iMac yet. However, I can truly say that I don't care if this ever works with any of my Apple devices - this is the coolest, most incredible device to simply hold in your hand. This product gets top marks for industrial and ergonomic design. Who cares if it works... I just like carrying it around... …More
