Product Information

  • This wireless sensor works with your iPod nano*, iPod touch (2nd generation or later), iPhone 3GS or later, to track your workouts. Insert it into the built-in pocket beneath the insole of your Nike+ shoe and pair it with your existing Nike + iPod receiver attached to your iPod nano.

iPod touch (2nd generation or later), iPhone 3GS or later, include Nike+ support built in. So you can get all the benefits of the Nike + iPod Sport Kit without the extra receiver.

This sensor is also perfect as a replacement for a sensor that has been lost or has exhausted its battery. Or it's great if you want to have a sensor for a second pair of Nike+ shoes.

Please note: This package includes only the Nike + iPod wireless sensor. If you also need the wireless receiver for iPod nano, purchase the complete Nike + iPod Sport Kit.

Ratings & Reviews

  • Works great.

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I bought the new (at the time) second generation Nano back in Oct. 06 and bought the Nike+ kit the same day. I've ran over 270 day s this year and all of them have been with the Nike+.

I can't believe all the reviews talking about how bad the battery life is. Not only that but they mention following the instructions on how to maximize said battery life. In a year I've not done one thing to my sensor except put it in two newer pairs of shoes. I never take it out. I never turn it off. It's in my shoes through -5º days, it's in there in 95º days. It's been through rain, sleet, snow and not once have I even thought about removing it to dry out.

Finally a year later it's time for a new one. For about a week I knew I was running faster/farther than the data showed. Sure enough today I received a message on the Nano stating my sensor battery was low and needed replacement. Not bad.

I think I can pony up for a new sensor yearly. Especially since I've found you only need to buy the sensor and not the whole kit.

  • Good, but you have to buy one every year

My wife and I have really liked using the Nike + Ipod system for the last year or so. We both like how it keeps info about each of our runs and I know I definitely run more after buying it. However, be aware that you'll need to buy a new sensor every year. We bought ours at the same time last year, and this year, within a few days, both of ours had ran out of juice and needed replacing - $40 + shipping for two of them. Still worth it, but it would be nice if future versions had a way of replacing the battery.

This is a great product, but a little advertising would have been nice. A month ago I needed a sensor and had to buy the entire k it. I would have much rather bought just the sensor. This should have been out since the kits started selling.

  • Linking Nike Sensor to iPhone

    5.0 out of 5 stars

I spent several hours trying to get my brand new sensor to link to my iPhone. I kept getting the message to "walk around to activa te the sensor". Finally I found a trouble shooting page on Nike Plus website with information that helped me solve the problem. USING THE TIP OF A PEN, PUSH THE SMALL BUTTON ON THE BACK OF THE SENSOR SEVERAL TIMES TO WAKE THE SENSOR UP. When the small button on the back of the sensor is PUSHED and HELD , it puts the sensor to sleep. When I performed this action, the sensor linked with my iPhone right away and seems to be working perfectly. I don't know why it was so hard to find this information on the website. So many people seem to be having this problem...

I bought this item at a apple store and not many of the people could give me any information on the item. I wanted to start runnin g to keep fit but you have to buy shoes to fit the devices which are not that cheap. They tried to out do them self with a single button to turn the device on and off but it has no way of saying if it is on or off and this is a problem because the battery cannot be replaced or recharged but it says it has 'over 1000' hours' of battery life. And if you do not know whether the device is on or not it could run out of battery quickly. I had high expectations on this item but this item failed to even get close to them. If you have money to burn then it would be a good product but I have no way to return this it therefore I regret this purchase.

I have yet to get my runs to upload to the website and no ability to sync. Contacted the help desk but they just indicated that p roblems had been reported and they were working on it. Probably will go back to Garmin and excel spreadsheet. Tried to use the Nike + Running but I can run the same route and it will be off a mile from the day before. Same response from support desk.... problems have been reported. One star only to get it to post.

  • Can I have more than two sensors?

Try to read this one! The second method are good for mine...

Method 1: Soft Resetting Your Apple iPod Touch and Nike+ Sensor.

Push and hold down both the Top Power Button and the Middle Home Button for about 10 seconds until the Apple symbol appears. Once the Apple appears, you can let go, and your iPod will reboot itself (like a computer).

Grab a pen or pencil and push and hold the button on the back of the Nike+ sensor for ten (10) seconds, then rapidly depress the button four (4) times.

Just to make sure the sensor is linked properly, we’re going to relink it by going to Settings > Nike+ iPod > Sensor > Link New.

Method 2: Update Your Apple iPod Touch, Nano, or iPhone and ensure the time settings are correct.

Charge your iPod, plug it into iTunes or a wall. Connect your iPod to your wireless network and check for updates.

How does that timestamp in the upper-center of the screen look? Is it close? In my case the time appeared to be off by only a few hours, but that wasn’t the case at all. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Date & Time. Is your time correct? How about the year? My iPod had traveled back in time to 1970! Set the date and time to be as accurate as possible.

Your Nike+ sensor should be working properly and accurately keeping track of your distance now.
