Ok so, all I see here is that it won't work with 64 gig cards blah blah blah. Seems to me you are the ones who did not do your research before you bought it. I read everything I can about almost everything I buy and i ask questions too. So I bought it knowing what it will and will not work with. No it does not work with your iphone so all you need to do is use the icloud, simple. this has done everything I need it to do and I bought it because I researched it and knew what it is for going in. Oh ya, some have said they cant use cloud because of no wifi, well I fixed that as well, just use your phone as a hot spot and your done BAM!

I have the ipad with the plug in sd reader device, my wife has the ipad mini with lightning sd card reader. I have made a file of wedding photos, taken by various people at my son's recent wedding, and transferred them onto a sd card but neither tablet recognises the card. Any reason why this is happening? This is the reason we bought the readers. All photos are jpeg, no videos. The publicity material suggest plug and play - not for me it isn't!

    One way transfer

I'm becoming annoyed at apple's habit of glossing over these accessory capabilities, as well as their assumptions about my wifi access. You can transfer pics TO an ipad, but not off. You must use icloud or dropbox to transfer photos, which seems easy, IF you have wifi, which is not the case at my work or school! To print a single image, I have to plug the ipad into a computer, download the files, then transfer them to the sd card for use elsewhere. All this because they don't even give you an option to transfer ANYTHING off without wifi or a computer, which kinda defeats the purpose of having an ipad. Beware.

    Does what the box says...

Existing SD card taken from camera and plugged into card reader. Plugged into iPad Mini and after a second all of the photos come up in little thumbnails, allowing you to select one, a few or all to import. Imported photos are NOT resized like others have claimed. I.e. a Canon EOS650D photo was still 5.1mb and 5184x3456 when emailed from the iPad to the desktop. A good product that does what it says (although why couldn't they add a SD card slot to the iPad!).

On my initial attempt to use the card reader it did not work. I had a SD Card that had never been used in a digital camera, but when I used the SD Card that was associated with my camera it work as stated. The SD Card has to be formatted with a digital camera for the item to work.

False Advertising by Apple on "SD card reader"

I had no idea there was a 32GB limit to which SD card it could read. I have a 64GB card and plan on getting a second 64GB card for my holidays, only to learn after the fact that this "SD card reader" can't read SD cards! After thinking I had a faulty product, find through reviews here that there is a limit - 32GB and lower. An overpriced, inadequate product by Apple.

I love this connector. It works perfectly, although I use SD cards only in the 8-32 GB range so I don't have problems with larger cards. I find it especially useful when traveling since I can back-up my photos occasionally, while sampling the local wine or espresso, and then send them up to the cloud each evening.

Bought this to edit/browse photos from my two SanDisk 128 GB Class 10 SD cards...find out it doesn't work with anything better than a 32 GB card. Haven't tried a cassette tape on it yet.

    Really, Apple? Really?

Two things need to be fixed: it needs to read newer cards, and enough with the "has to be formatted like a camera photo" bs. Give us what is most useful, not what is most profitable, or I swear my next tablet will not be an ipad...

    Fails on many levels

If the SD card does not have a simple file structure of 'DCIM/CANOM100' or such, it fails to find anything, so it just gives up. If the software had been written by someone with half competency, it would display the file structure on the disc and give you a choice of where to go to find the files. It would not find the moves on my SD card produced by a Sony video camera because the directory structure was not the simple type. Yet another example of Apples view that you 'don't need to know the workings, we will protect you from them' Poor product Apple, wake up!! You got one star because I was not allowed to give you none.

Does not work with iPhone 5. Does not work with memory cards bigger than 32gb. I have a pair of 64GB SD (one's SDHC, one's SDXC) that are both useless.

Doesnt work with 64 gig! Rubbish

If apple had stated that this does not work with 64 gig cards I never would have bought it! Completely pointless me having it now unless they have a magical update coming that will fix the issue.

Wanted to use it to transfer different videos off of my GoPro and naturally with it using quite a lot of data to record HD video I spent a bit more buying a 64gig card.

If it worked it would be a great (but very overpriced) item but now its just an overpriced piece of junk. Thanks Apple!

I was very excited for this product to only find out it does not work with the iPhone 5 only the latest iPad and iPad Mini. Hopefully Apple can fix this with later updates as I was able to use the prior 30pin connector SD Camera Reader with previous generation iPhones with no issues.

Reference Vanessa P on Nov 30 2012 before reading on.

It must be understood that this adapter was meant to read directly from a camera Those of you who are expecting this adapter to work as expandable storage best be prepared to work for it. That is, the reader will only read the photos AND videos IF they’re named and formatted correctly. Let me clarify further that all files MUST be in 8 digit alpha-numerics (e.g. XXXX1234). It doesn’t matter how it’s named as long as there are eight (8) characters. No special characters other than underscore ( _ ). Even then it can only be used as the 4th character (e.g. DSC_0001). Concerning formats, JPG and MP4 works perfectly. Haven’t tried h.264 yet. Again, it must…MUST be understood that this is a “camera card” reader, NOT external storage. And to confirm, No, you can not transfer from ipad to card; ONLY from card to ipad.

Reads SD cards upto 32 GB, but not 64 GB

I have the 128 GB Ipad4 with the iPhoto app. Like many photographers, I bought the Ipad to review my photos in the field without resorting to the inconvenience of a bigger computer. I have been able to read RAW and jpg files from 32 GB SD cards, but not from 64 GB cards. (With the 64 GB cards I get the Ipad msg "Contents not Available, Cannot read the connected storage.") In searching online, I have found that other users have had the same experience. Given the photography market using the Ipad, where DSLR photographers commonly use 64 GB cards, this is something Apple needs to fix.
