To all those people who bought this COVER thinking it was a CASE I laugh at you! The product description is clear; the photos are clear. Do NOT talk down this excellent product because of YOUR incompetence.

I have had this cover now for nearly a year. I have not had to clean it; I have not had the magnets fail. Ladies and gents, this is a screen cover, not a case. Therefore, do NOT expect the magnets to hold the modest weight of the iPad. As a screen cover, there is none better.

I have recently purchased this product and used it meetings, I have received many comments on its style, quality and looks. Very well made as with all Apple products, you can find cheaper from others but they are not designed as well or looks as stylish. If you own an iPad you should own this cover.

Also the inside of the cover cleans the screen, the aluminium hing (not plastic) automatically aligns itself. When you open the cover BINGO your iPad is on and when you close the cover it puts it to sleep.

The red cover looks sharp with the black iPad. However, it gets scratched and dirty in 24 hours. I'm returning for a black one. This is what all the Apple employees use in my local store.

Got this when I bought the new ipad online. It offers 0 security / protection. The magnet routinely slips off. The leather does not hold up very well to any sort of natural wear and tear. This is a huuuuuuge disconnect from my awesome ipad 3. I wish I could just take this into the store and give it back to them.

For the price it's a complete waste of money. The cover leaves ugly ridges on the screen and routinely falls off during normal everyday use, making it very frustrating to use. The supposed features for holding the device up also fail since the magnetic strip isnt strong enough to keep the cover attached. Design FAIL.

When I saw the Red it looked stunning. Although as soon as you put it on the ipad, the colour doesn't look as nice. In fact it looks ugly. I would not recommend buying this.

The ingenious design of this cover - and it's a cover, NOT a case - makes it easy for someone to grab the cover to hold the iPad. That's bad, because the magnet is not strong enough to hold the iPad.

Apple should test these with 11 year olds who will figure out how NOT to use a product.

Prefer the original iPad's case that had a cover attached.

The red color looked phenomenal when I bought on the first day the Ipad 2 was released. A year later, as I eagerly await the shipment of my "new" iPad, I am purchasing a new poly smart cover.

The red color looks amazing at first and does fade. Scratches and scuffs become apparent and I store my iPad with smart cover in a sleeve when not in use. Also, the natural oils from your fingers make the edges of the cover turn darker which is nice but since its unlikely to get darker evenly, the cover starts to look old. Construction of the cover is great, and it does exactly what it says. Used every day for a year, it has never fallen apart, and the magnets work perfectly. The cover stays put nicely but I did purchase the additional Incipio back cover to link the smart cover into, which I highly recommend. I also had my iPad wrapped with a Zagg-like plastic film on the back and front professionally done (also highly recommended). Smart cover works great with this but the red leather did stain lines onto the plastic over time so light red lines would appear where the folds of the smart cover were. My friend also had the same issue with the black leather one, which is why I am buying a poly one for my new iPad.

Overall, if $70 is not a big deal, the leather smart cover is nice. I would not recommend it if you are also getting the plastic wrap on your iPad as it will mostly likely stain the wrap within a few months. It does not stain the actual glass on the iPad.

It does what it's supposed to do: use as a stand and connect magnetically. But it's an ipad case and it's supposed to protect it. I have dropped it a couple of times, luckily not on concrete or it would have been lot more broken than it is now. There are a great many of scratches on the back, and a huge crack on the front. It is not protected on the back at all,and when I dropped it the case fell off altogether causing the crack on the front. On the case I have had to wash it a few times, and now there is a pen Mark proving impossible to scrub off. On the inside there is a small rip in the fabric. I am so glad I didn't waste my money on the leather version.
I would have been much better off with the Zagg series... Very disappointed.
