Which machine should I get, Macbook Pro 13" or Macbook Air 11"?
This upcoming machine will be my primary. Currently I'm having White Macbook 13" 2008 which has 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo. And basically it does not support Mac's new OS, Lion. I'm pursuing my Diploma in Software Development. So I need a new machine for my course. What do you guys reckon?

Answer
Hello,
Regarding all the information you provided in your question, i think that you should get the MacBook Pro. The MacBook Air 11" is simply too small for what you want to do on it and definetly not powerful enough. Also, i think the Pro is an all-round better computer and the lack of a disk drive on the Air is what puts me off it. If you can wait a while and save a bit more money, then i would recomend you get the 15" Pro, little bit faster and a bigger screen makes a lot of difference!- Answered by Thomas H

I'm a college student, should I get a air or a pro?
In the spring I'm transferring to a college Where I'm looking up to a 2000 dollar spending for a laptop. I'm hoping to go into the Education field, where I'm learning that more and more teachers and schools are using Mac Computers in my area, and other states, so I'm looking to get acquainted with them in case I land a job in a school district that uses Macs. I'm familiar with Ipods nanos, Touches, and Iphones. I've only used a Mac Desktop once, and that was when I was 12 So I'm sure they have changed in 11 years.
However I'm not sure which computer would be best for me. I usually use my laptop as much as my desktop which I will be bringing with me, however there are certain weeks I'll just be only on my laptop and not once touching the desktop. I expect the same (if not more) out of the Mac than I get out of my windows. Watching movies, playing video games (mostly sims 3), Writing up papers, putting together small movies, music, and a lot of digital drawing.
With the Air, I like the fact that it is thin and can be hidden fast in case there is a inkling that I think someone is going to steal it. However I love the fact that I can get a SSD with the Pro. Any thoughts?- Asked by Stephanie W from Bessemer

What if the Macbook I ordered has a problem or defect?
What if the Macbook Pro I will order has a defect or damage upon arrival? Do I get to return the unit and get it replaced? If yes, who will handle the shipping fee?

Answer
The first year you have it, you are covered. You can choose to either take it into a store or you can request a box. Shipping will be handled by Apple. After one year, you are not covered unless you bought apple care.

Looking at the Mac mini since its so portable and can plug in anywhere...using it for a one-man-show architecture practice...good choice? Or go iMac?
The main question for me is re: the balance of processing speed and graphics between the two, since the hard drives and ram are comparable. I've seen some say the graphics and processing in the mini isn't up to snuff for real graphic operations. Ill be mainly running sketchup and Autodesk Lite along with the Adobe Creative Suite. The mini caught my eye because I might team with others and want to take the computer with me and plug in at a local monitor. Also, was looking to spend around $1500 for the computer itself before accessories.

Which macbook 13 inch I should purchase for college: pro or air? My major is Communications or Psychology. (Not sure at the moment)
I know both the air and pro have been recently updated and both 13 in cost the same, however I dont know which one to choose for college. I will use it for college such as browsing, completing assignments, editing here and there videos and photos. I need something fast, THAT WILL LAST ALL 4 YEARS, and is reliable and durable. I want a machine that can get the job done without any problems. ALSO, I don't want to have overheating problems nor fan issues. I am aware the pro is getting a common issue with regards to the heat and what not.

Which is best for 6 and 7 year old girls, a Mac Pro 13" or Mac Air 13"? I just can't decide??
My girls have been using a computer for a couple of years and I promised them a laptop each for Christmas this year (yes I am running out of time!!!!) but can't decide between the Mac Pro 13" and the Mac Air 13". I originally though the Mac Pro because they can watch DVD's but I don't know if they would really use this feature much. I spent an hour in the Apple Store yesterday and the guy I was talking to said the Mac Air would be better, newer technology, size, etc... but as I was leaving the store I spoke to another salesman who said the Mac Pro was better :) ????? So now I really don't know what to do?
They would be using it for school, internet games, art work, camera photo editing, and connecting in their i touches. PLEASE HELP...........- Asked by Alanna M from Canungra

First, before buying a new computer, have you considered steps to speed up your existing MacBook? Consider bringing it to an Apple store or other qualified service provider for an evaluation of what improvements could be made. There is software available to reduce fragmentation, and remove unused files or bloatware. Perhaps more RAM or a hard-drive upgrade would make a difference?
That said, both the 13" and 15" will have the same performance in terms of networking. The 15" has a larger battery, but it powers a larger screen, so battery performance will also be similar.
Otherwise, the 15" models will do everything faster, with a quad-core processor and separate graphics card (opposed to just the Intel graphics with shared memory on the 13").
If budget is truly no object, make sure you bump up the hard drive to at least 7200 rpm (or go solid-state), and get the hi-res display. If budget allows, max out the processor and RAM, or move up to the 17"!- Answered by Bret G from Topeka

Other than a retina screen and a smaller size, is there any other difference between the macbook pro with retina and the normal macbook pro?
I don't want the retina screen just yet, as I want to wait a couple of years for websites and stuff to adjust so they don't look terrible with the new screen, as I've been hearing some do.
Also my current laptop is very heavy and big so I'll be fine with the heavier macbook pro, plus I want to use cd/dvds.
so other than that are the two macbooks the same?- Asked by Dylan W from Sydney

if you want portability, you should get a 13 or 15 inch macbook pro or the high end 13 inch macbook air. if you want better performance than a laptop, go for the baseline of the mac mini, which is cheap, at only $600, and it will give you more than enough for everyday use. if you have more money to spend, than you can buy a baseline of the imac, which might not be so everyday because there is a lot more power, but if you are on a budget, than get the mac mini

Film student. What's recommended of the Macbook Pros 15"?
I'm just about to purchase my first laptop, but unfortunately do not speak computer language. My alternatives are the two 15" Macbook Pros with Retina display.
The only difference I can see is that the more expensive one has higher GHz (2.6 compared to 2.3), a higher TurboBoost (up to 3.6 compared to 3.3) and twice the flash storage (256GB compared to 512GB).
I will use it for Avid, but other than that I won't use it for other than web browsing and word processing software. I plan to purchase an external hardrive as well to save all my video files.
Would you recommend me to get the one that's more expensive, or don't you think it will matter?
I plan to prepare for post graduate studies, and that's why I want to purchase a new Mac.
Appreciate all responds, thank you!- Asked by Eli Mari Michelle S
