I got the iPhone 5 4 months ago and this cable that I received with my phone doesn't work anymore. The cable I had with my iPhone I got the iPhone 5 4 months ago and this cable that I received with my phone doesn't work anymore. The cable I had with my iPhone 4, I had for 2 years with no problems at all. So I find it very strange that the lighting cord can stop working so easily. Even the cord for my first generation iPod touch which is 6 years old and it still works. Now I have to go buy another cord and spend more money to keep using my phone. I hope the issue gets fixed soon because I don't want to keep buying new lighting cords every 4 months. …

It's unfortunate that this cord is so necessary. I've gone through three different lightning cords in the four months I've had my It's unfortunate that this cord is so necessary. I've gone through three different lightning cords in the four months I've had my iPhone 5. All three have inexplicably stopped working. Each has gotten a short in the cord where it meets the lightning end though I've been careful to leave them straight, treat them gently (especially since the first failed). With my current cord, I have to hold the lightning end of the cord in a certain direction to get it to work.
On top of that, when it happens to short out, it interferes with the electric current, disabling linked ports. i.e. when it shorts out in any of my computers' USB ports, the other ports become inactive as well (disabling my external hard drive and USB mouse); when it is plugged in a charger with multiple outputs, the other outputs become inactive as well.
After buying several chargers, three iPods, three iPhones, and an iPad, I had amassed ten of the old 30-pin connectors. All ten work just as well as they did when I brought them home; I took it for granted that I never had an issue with any of them. …

Not only is the cable very short, accidentally bought this last year to replace a broken iphone 5 cord and was very disappointed. Not only is the cable very short, like the other iphone 5 cables it is way too flimsy and the cord will bubble and break after a few months of use. While i had it, it charged perfectly fine, but only lasted 4 months …

How hard is it to design a better cable?
Apple designs the best phones, but can't design a proper charging cable that can last more than 6 months without chipping apart. T Apple designs the best phones, but can't design a proper charging cable that can last more than 6 months without chipping apart. This is not your first generation product, don't you have a team to implement consumer feedback? The design & quality of charging cables seems to be degrading with each newer models.
If you acknowledge the problem i.e. poor design/quality of charging cables, act on it. Redesign & replace ...live up to the brand image. Don't spoil the image over little cable. …

Cable Warranty Exchange
Not sure why there's so many negative reviews, but I've had my cable for nearly year and it's only now showing signs of distress. Not sure why there's so many negative reviews, but I've had my cable for nearly year and it's only now showing signs of distress. Took it to the Apple store today and since it's still within my warranty, they exchanged it for me free of charge. Since I purchased AppleCare+ for my iPhone 5s, my cable is also covered under the extended warranty. …
