    Suffers from interference too much

I live in the South of England where the FM space is rammed full of local radio stations that bleed across the wavelengths. The iTrip is really susceptible to this bleed and you don't have to go far before you find your music or sat nav directions being obliterated.

Add to that the fact that you have to position the transmitter in the car in such a way as the tuner picks it up in the first place and you quickly begin to regret shelling out for this piece of kit.

If it weren't for the fact that the car I use this in isn't something I'll be investing a lot of money in I would have replaced the in-car stereo with something that at least had an AUX jack so I could plug my iPhone into it directly rather than put up with the poor performance of this device.

At best this is an over-priced in-car charger. Really, buy something else.

Constantly picks up interference even my window wipers cause crackling. My phone has to sit in an exact spot in order to be able to hear anything and the product randomly turns off - isnt easy to use as the app is restricting, Will be returning.

Just bought this. Downloaded the app but like a number of my other accessories, this one doesn't work with the new iOS. Not pleased. At. All.

The vital thing is the quality of your car radio. I had a mark 4 golf and it worked okay...ish. As others have commented there was some interference and other radio stations often "butted in.
"When I got a Mark 5 golf it just improved no end.... no interference, it sounded like the car CD wherever I was driving. If you get the chance borrow someone else's before you buy

The transmitter works well with good sound quality, it's like having your oun radio show, but it does drain the iPod power fast.

Not a great deal of use in the UK

I'm sure this works well somewhere in the world. It feels pretty well made, is simple to use and the app is well designed. Unfortunately on the crowded island that is Great Britain, with hundreds of legal and illegal radio stations using the FM frequencies it is impossible to find a free frequency to use. Constant interference cuts across the music. This isn't necessarily the fault of the manufacturer but don't waste your money. It shouldn't be sold in the UK with this serious flaw. Maybe it works in the less crowded parts of the UK, such as the Scottish Highlands and Northern Ireland?

    Terrible.

I'm so disappointed. From the good reviews and the fact that I bought it from the apple website, I thought this product would be great. Unfortunately, whatever fm frequency I put it on, the sound quality is awful. It's very crackly and disappears for a few seconds at a time. The sound quality changes without the ipod even being moved, but it seems to be even worse when in a built up area, which is strange.

The most important thing I would like to mention is that you cannot return the clearly faulty product to apple, which is very unhelpful. I have been told to contact the manufacturer with details of my warranty.

quality of the sound is good . and u can charge your ipod with mini USB dock with this accessory .. distance of the itrip and FM device should be near by 7 or 8 meters .

    Does the job well

Ive tried several FM transmitters in the past and none of them have worked very well. Either the sound quality is terrible or they were impossible to re-tune. This one gives perfectly acceptable sound quality and with the app it is dead easy to switch between frequencies. I use an old motorolla micro usb car charger to keep my iPhone topped up but the iTrip doesnt seem to drain its power much anyway. Only thing that could be better is if it came with a car charger in the box. If you want a cheap, easy and smart looking way to get your music in the car then this should do the job for you - just remember its never going to be as good as a proper cable connection!

Having tried on several occasions to find an FM transmitter that is easy to use without clutter in my car, and of decent sound quality, I thought there was no hope. Either they cost too much, or the quality was poor.
However, along came Griffin with the briliant iTrip. Far cheaper than previous efforts, easy to install, (even with a free app from iTunes), and ultimately excellent sound quality. Forget other competitive more expensive transmitters, you won't be disappointed, well done Griffin!

I really like this product for its ease of use. The size of the buttons along with the display and smartscan tunning make it quick and simple to use. You get a really great signal and along with the stereo and smartsound boost options it sounds as good as your actual CD player in the car. I would certainly recommend this product.
