Please can we have the old style ones back!

For those of us with small ears, these are a retrograde step. The old classic earbuds were perfect, but these just hurt the ears.

Dear Apple, please can we have an option of the other, old fashioned kind?

    POOR FIT

What use is this product if you can't wear them for more than 5 minutes as they are very uncomfortable. I much preferred the soft ear bud style. i wore these for less than 5 minutes and felt like my ears were bruised, gave them to my husband who has slightly larger ears and he found them equally uncomfortable.

    Don't waste your money.

    Doesn't fit

My friend gave me this Earpod cause it doesn't fit into his ear. I've got the same issue, doesn't fit. Now I've got to give it to someone else to give it a try.

I don't think it's an universal headphone, sound quality is also not impressive, very similar to the old one.

The previous one had an opportunity to fit a bud for extra support. This one doesn't.

I would suggest other people if you have a chance try it first before spending £25. It is highly likely to spoil your money.

The sound has improved a lot compared to the old apple headphones.
Remote and mic works great as expected.
However in my experience these are just useless. They are very light and in my opinion almost too light - I feel like they're about to fall out constantly which is of enough annoyance for me to stop using them.

Just received these and they won't stay in my ears at all. When Apple say they stay in, I would like to know how may people they tested them on and for how many they did not stay put. My ears may not be suitable but that will be true for others. So my advice would be, don't buy until you have tried a set to check they stay in your ear. Can't comment on the sound quality for obvious reasons.

    Don't Fit ...

The title says it all. These annoyingly weedle their way out of your ears. The sound is just about passable but the awkward ergonomics to the ear canal means the sound is not delivered where it should be. I have been incredulous for years that apple can get so many products right yet they cannot, it seems, produce a set of headphones that perform. This is an essential component and I would like to see apple include a worthy headphone to compliment their repertoire.

    Comfortable but sound rubbish

Okay, so Apple have finally made a pair of in-ear headphones that don't make you wince when wearing them - but don't expect the same when you start listening. With no high-end detail, little in the way of dynamics and an overblown and resonant bass, I can only assume these are either built down to a minuscule price or developed by a team at Apple looking for a more comfortable replacement for their hearing aids. To put this into perspective, they are humbled by a pair of Sony earbuds that were given away with a cheap MiniDisc player I bought years ago. Fit for making phone calls only...

I bought a pair of these for my Mother as she needed a new pair for her 3rd Gen iPod Shuffle. I asked the guy in the Apple Store if these were compatible and he said they were but when we tried them out the volume function does not work. Now I can't return them despite being told by the store that they would work! Not good enough Apple!!!

These are completely useless - they just fall out of my ears. No surprise really given there's nothing to keep them in.
The sound is better, but if anything there is now too much bass.
Very very disappointed, and presumably there's no way of buying the old model now.

My earpods came shipped with my iPhone 5, after hearing all the rave reviews about them I was expecting something spectacular.

After 3 continual days, trying to enjoy them it's come to the point where I can honestly say that these things are rubbish!

To begin with the front facing opening has harsh edges which dig into my ear, the glossy finish of the units becomes super slippery after a few minutes when listening resulting in them falling out of my ears every five minutes or so.

Apple claim to be able to compete with sound quality of high end earphones, that's rubbish - porta pro's are £20 and sound better.

The only redeeming feature of these things is the inline remote, it's perfect - nice feel to it, position is ideal and the size is nice.

They won't stay in my ears (have to keep pushing them in), there's very little bass and too much of the "outside" noise when listening to music.
Why is it so hard to come up with some good in-ear headphones??

    Too small to fit all

    • Written by from marlow

I and a few of my friends have tried the earpods and myself and one friend found they were too small to even fit in our ears and just kept sliding out, very annoying bur only £25, also even having a low volume on still produces lots of external sound, so anyone around you can hear what you're listening to...

    They fall out

I got these with my iPhone 5. I didn't used to use the standard earphones as I found them uncomfortable. I can't comment on the sound quality of these new EarPods as they fall out of my ears so fast I can't hear anything. I put them in, started walking, and already the sound was fading because they are loosening off. I ran across the road to beat traffic and they fell completely out. Shame, they look nice. Back to after-market earphones for me.

Make sure that your ears are the right shape!

In our family only one out of four are able to use these earpods without them falling out. As soon as I put one in my left ear it drops straight out, the right ear fits better. If your ear is the "wrong" shape then these earpods won't be any use to you. It is a shame that Apple did not include a grip to lock the pods into your ear. It's a missed design opportunity.
