Reviews for iPad Smart Cover - Polyurethane - Light Grey

Having used a white iPad 2 in conjunction with a grey Smart Cover for the past two months now, I must say they are a good combination in terms of ergonomics and colour. I don't need to explain the various uses stated in the product description for the Smart Cover but for a person like me who likes to make videos now and often, it acts as a good make-shift tripod-esque product for the iPad. However, with its awesome uses and cool design, it is starting to split a little in the bottom left corner but this is due to the fact I put it in a bag virtually everyday as I am a student, so that is my fault.

However, this is another great Apple accessory and worth the money.

The primary function of the Smart Cover is to protect the screen; added functions include conversion to a stand or typing ledge, as it rolls up, as well as waking and putting to sleep the iPad, when it is still on but covered with the Smart Cover.

That is exactly what it does.

Unfortunately, had they tried to hold the iPad with the leather Smart Cover, such as the one I purchased, Apple designers would have quickly placed two small magnets on the cover side, in order for the cover to stay in place behind the iPad. Moreover, it completely covers the 5MP camera... So, I tend to remove the cover very often...

was bought this as a gift with ipad, worked well but within 6 months the cover started to come apart, very disappointed. As it was bought as a gift from a different town & did not have receipt unable to return

I bought this with my iPad two days ago in the US but I felt it didn't offer the protection I needed. However, it's a great design and I'll keep it for back up. I love the way that it wakes the iPad up when the cover is opened for example and I like that it's sleek and prevents it from becoming scratched. This is a great product and good design but, for me, I felt I wanted an all round cover.

I have the orange version and it's great. Why are people complaining that it won't protect the iPad if you drop it? OF COURSE IT WON'T! You can clearly see this by looking at the photos/video of the product! Apple have made it perfectly clear that it protects the screen from scratches and acts as a stand for typing and watching videos etc, which it does superbly.

I recently bought the blue poly instead of leather as the price seemed high enough. I cannot fault it's usability - its a well-designed product throughout. What's found however was the vibrant colour tainted quicker than I imagined with general rubbing above tables and the marks showed pretty quickly. I decided to step up and get the leather after a week (cappucino, which should hide the 'dust colour' well). The feel is as expensive as the price, but I expect this to age well as good leather do.

Expensive, yes - but this is an investment as I do not plan to replace this (hopefully) ever.

If you're in two minds, make use of apples 14-day return and test out the poly by all means.

Very good protection provided. Didn't score 5/5 as it provides no protection to the read of the device. I have ended up buying a third party rear cover which works very well in combination.

My son was passing me the iPad with smart cover, the cover started slipping open, he was left holding the cover as the magnets didn't support the weight...one broken iPad, 2 months old. It's a designer dust cover and stand not a lot more!

I have a blue polyurethane cover and it works fine. You can fold it to a triangular shape when it works as a stand. You do need to clean it with a good household cleaner to keep it looking bright. But, please, detach it from your iPad first. If you pick up your iPad by the cover and shake it then the iPad will fall and could be damaged. But, hey, why would anyone on the planet do that? I would buy one for Xmas, it is a cool design.
