    remote & mic

the remote and mic is great, it saves you going in your pocket to get your ipod out just to change the song and the sound is just the same as the normal one's but for the same price you gain the remote and mic and i think it's brilliant

    Simple and great!

It is a great earphone using with my iTouch (2nd gen). Simple controls, more comfortable materials (less plastic feeling) and the same sound quality and for the SAME PRICE as before! The only thing: U need to be careful not to press the play button (no lock on it). I can just recommend it!

Good, but could have a longer cord.

    Written by HL from Oxford

The earphones are sensitive, and the remote is a great idea. I have been waiting for these to be available for ages. I use them with my 2nd gen iPod touch and they are good. The reason that I bought these was to have my ipod in my bag, but still be able to change the music. The reason that I have not given these five stars is that they do not have much length in them, and they do not work with my earphone extenders. On their own they do not have much slack in the cord. If they came with or even sold these extenders then I would give five stars.

Apple should have thought of this.

Right, first off, I want to say how much of a standard set of earphones these are, once you use them out of the box. It's just so STANDARD.

Then, the SECRET. Apparently, all you need to do is get some of the foams and voilà! Earphones that sound better than those entry-level in-ear types (CX300 EP-630 etc).

Apparently, what I found out was that when you put them in your ear, the ear phones do not transmit all the power. But with foam, it acts as a cushion, helps the earphones stay in the ear, and increases the quality of the sound/bass/treble by at least 300%.

I'm using Plantronics ear foams with them now and I'm not coming back. You can order differently coloured ones over the usual auction sites. :)

Most of all, it makes wearing them VERY COMFORTABLE. A must for those who listen at length.

I hope this was helpful guys.

    Great headphones

    Written by JE from OKEHAMPTON

Great headphones, with a good quality- Well worth the price and workes wonders with my iPod Touch (2nd gen).
Also they are comfy and fits my ears well.

The only thing i could say to improve them is for the edges of the remote to be smoother, because when i am listning to music, i tend to put the cable down my top so it doesn't get in the way...but the only thing is every now and again it catches you which doesn't hurt, just can be enoying and itchy... but still a great product!!

in my oppinion these are brilliant for the quality and the design looks ultra sweet, although they have a very short life excpectancy im on my fourth pair of headphones this year as i got my iphone on christmas.
but next time they break im never buying apple headphones, if you think about it thats alot of money spent where as you could just buy some senhiser ones or some ones that dont break as often, apple should really think about this so many of my freinds headphones are breaking and were all fed up :(
its the same with the iphone charging cable thats broken aswell, so has my freinds its rediculous and the price they charge...
to top it all of.. if you have an ipod shuffle (1st gen) and headphones and the dock happens to break, use common sence buy a new shuffle, youll save about £1 and get a free shuffle :)

    like ive said, quality 5*
    reliability 1*

im sorry about my whining but im sick and tired of apples weak cables
(p.s i do take care of my gadgets and cables)

    terrible headphones

    Written by CH from London

    11-Sep-2009

they work and then they break. I am now about to buy my third pair as I can't find any other headphones that work with the new shuffle. I will thereby have spend more money (excessively) on headphones than the shuffle itself. A complete rip-off.
    Apple: please fix this.

The delivery was fast and everything was in good condition as usual. the headphone quality was better than the standard ones but it's selling for the same price! remote function, works really well!. You may think that the mic is really small, but i call my cousin on skype and he said it was like being called from a local, and i was calling from the UK to Brunei! I just have one suggestion, pack this with the future ipods, please? :)

    Apple failed to disappoint!

You'd think that the company that brought you the iPod would make sure that the headphones that accompanied were just as good. But no, these headphone provide poor quality sound with no bass whatsoever. Also after a few months they will begin to fall apart..

    Why dont they just last!?

    Written by JM from BRADFORD

    07-Sep-2009

Just like all apple headphones before them, these are great until they break. And that doesn't take long. I've taken good care of mine. Not used them too much. Kept them dry. In a case. But it's been not even two months and they've already got problems. On certain low base notes, one of the ear buds crackles ...Apple, I love your products and all, but take a hint! People like stuff to last more than a week!!! PLEASE DO SOMETHING! FOR THE LOVE OF CUSTARD, PLEASE!

These work with the iPhone too!

Written by GP from BOGNOR REGIS

    13-Feb-2009

I've always used Apple headphones with my Apple products, but when these came out I was disappointed that it said they weren't compatible with the iPhone. However, when my iPhone headset's driver went in the right earplug, I thought, well, I can't hurt to try.
The remote looked much cooler than the one on the iPhone headset and I was worried that it wouldn't work with the iPhone, but it actually does!
The only thing that doesn't work is the volume controls but the main button and the mic work wonderfully. And, that doesn't really matter, as the iPhone has volume control buttons on the side of the phone, and even with my thick wooly gloves on, I can still change the volume on the phone when it's in my pocket.

Definitely a great buy for iPhone and iPod users!

Apple store advisers need more training on products!!

Written by RA from Manor Park

    09-Sep-2009

I was advised that the headphones are compatabile for all iPods and iPhones, however the volume button on the headphones does not work on iPhone 3G, I had clearly asked the adviser to make sure that the headphones would be compatible with my iPhone, but was clearly advised wrong, I feel that apple store advisers should thoroughly be trained on all products and their compatabilty before advising customers to purchase the product.

    Don't last very long

    Written by YW from SWINDON

Having owned both generations of the iPhone i have bought 5/6 pairs of these earphones. Despite the sound quality being good, the earphones don't last for more than half a year for me. Mainly its the mic which stops working and the skipping tracks/answering calls doesn't work as a result.

    Just Perfect

Written by OM from Lyme Regis

I know a lot of people have given a negative review to these earphones with remote and mic, "They are too short" or "There isn't enough bass" ok let me start with the short comment... How tall are all of these people! It goes from my pocket to my ears just fine with room to spare! They are fine. Now "No Bass" put the bass booster EQ on and... Ta dah. And lastly some people complain about them being badly made and don't last a long time... Well that's not true, I've had mine over a year now and they still look as good as new, treat your products with care and they will last you forever. In conclusion a great addition for my iPod touch, no more fumbling about with changing the volume or pausing, I can use Skype and other Mic apps, in all this is a well worth product to get, it's just what every iPod Touch user should have to start off with!

Dont' know if you all have elephant ears or what.
I do a lot of running and cycling with these earphones and not once in 3 months have they fallen out. Very good sound quality also.
Or you can use the in-ear model for sports.

Reading all the reviews for different products I have realized a lot of reviewers don't know how to use a toilet, let alone use an electronical device. On the many Apple products I have owned, I have never had any problems with none of them (and I never went easy on any of them)

Amazing headphones if you take care of them

    Written by DB

    16-Sep-2009

I got these headphones with the ipod shuffle 3rd gen and to start off the sound quality coming out of them was amazing. until I accidentally dropped them on the floor and my dog stepped on them and one of the earphones went loose a little bit so the bass rumbled it about so it made one side sound a bit rubbish. so if you buy them take care of them.

    Awful!

    Written by ME from Guildford

These a AWFUL headphones, a complete wast of time for anybody who is active. you cant run with them in your ears as they just work their way loose and they certainly are not sweat resistant. I have the new speaking shuffle I brought it for the gym but because of the lack of compatible and reasonably priced headphones for the new shuffle I wish I kept to the old style, the no controls on the new shuffle is a waste of time as with out these terrible headphones renders it practically useless!
I have been a fan of apple and there designs for as long as I can remember but these headphones are just not fit for purpose!

    Review of Apple Earphones

    Written by DH from Brighton

    02-Oct-2009

After buying some new iPod earphones directly from the apple store in Brighton, i thought it would be a good idea to share my views on them.

First of all, fro £21 just for simple or-earphones it may seem like a lot of money however, for that, customers can expect apple's unique headphone style, an inline remote with microphone and slightly better sound quality than the headphones bundled with the original iPod/iPhone.

The inline remote works very well as you don't have to keep on getting out the iPod/iPhone to change the track. This defiantly saves on a lot of battery life as the screen is never lit up. With the ability to pause, play, skip, previous and increase/decrease the volume, most of the functions are on the remote. however, before you buy these: i bought these for my iPhone 2g, and the volume changer doesn't seem to have an impact on the actual volume coming through. this maybe because of a faulty product, however i have heard other people having this issue so its unlikely to be a faulty product.

Finally, i believe that these earphones give slightly better performance than the the original phones. this is only a slight increment, however it is noticeable. there is deeper bass which is defiantly a welcomed addition. this performance increase however may because of the constant use my old earphones got over a 6 month period. Either way, i would still say that they are marginally better.

So, to sum up, i personally believe that these earphones are worth the £21 price tag, however if you want alot better quality than the originals then look at shure, bose or sennheiser phones. 4*
