I bought these headphones in November 2012, I have been using cheap headphones in the past at the gym and they haven't lasted long. I have a normal pair of Bose headphones which I feel are the best I've ever used so thought I'd give the SIE2i a go.

The only downside I have is getting them out of the box try not to use a knife or scissors I have read horror stories of people cutting though the headphone lead.

But once you get them out you can feel the quality between a cheap pair of headphones and bose. They have really gone to town on making them durable, there is a good video on YouTube showing the head phones being made and tested by Bose.

They give a great sound but I will admit they are not noise cancelling but I never have to have the volume on full to enjoy my music and have not been disturbed by noises in the gym, when out for a run I feel it's nice you can hear the surroundings just in case someone's trying to alert you or if a cars coming up behind you when street running.

The arm band works really well with the short lead, and the extension lead is a bonus, not had any issues with its length, it's made me use the headphones for everyday life as well as the gym, I have used them when I had to use a company car with no Bluetooth two people I spoke to when using them commented how clear the cars Bluetooth was, I had to correct them and tell them it was my bose headphones.

They also come with a choice of 3 different size specially designed Bose ear buds which hold in your ear securely and are made of a soft silicone which I find comfortable and a snug fit.

Anyway they are on the heavy side when it comes to price in some people's eyes! But you get what you pay for! They are engendered to high standards and and tuned to give excellent sound.

They are not cheap and over prices like Beats and other celebrity endorsed headphones, Dr Bose has a history of high quality.

Makes me laugh when I see people with £250+ Beats over ear head phones on in the gym and they are constantly falling off! The gym is not for posing pretty boys!

If you go to an Bose store or dealer they will let you try them out first!

You can get them without the microphone which do come in cheaper.

Not bad but expensive (typical Bose)

I have tried loads of headphones of different types for use when running.
They come with 3 different sizes of ear moulding made of a silica type material. They feel slightly loose but stay in place very well. The sound quality is very good for the size of transducer but these phones are not noise cancelling - not a bad thing whilst out running. They seem reasonably resilient in the rain but guess that they are not water proof, just resistant.
The lead is quite short (85mm) but fine when used with the arm band (which is excellent). They are supplied with an extension lead (55mm) should you need it. The in line remote is also very useful.
If they were half the price, I'm sure Bose would sell loads. At £130 they are expensive but they work for me.

    Superb!

These are the only headphones that don't fall out of my ears when running and I've tried a lot of sets before finding these. They come with 3 sizes of the ear tips and the large size fit me perfectly. The sound quality is excellent, as you'd expect from Bose, and I personally like the fact that these are not noise isolating as I like to be able to hear what's going on around me when I'm out running. I got an armband that is made for iPhone 5 direct from Bose and it's great. The short cable is a really good idea as it is nice and tidy for exercising. I've read about people struggling to open the packaging and even cutting through cables when doing so, however the box has a hole to insert a scissor blade and is clearly marked to show you where to cut, so I found it really easy to get the phones out. I'm absolutely delighted with these as I can now run to my heart's content and would recommend them without hesitation. Bose offer a 30 day risk-free home trial in case you find they're just not for you.

    Dreadful to open box

    • Written by from ABERFELDY

The packaging is increadably difficult to open. When using scissors, yes... I cut through one lead..! Bose then charged me £69 to replace, which was terribly painful. it was my fault, but.... Was ultra caeful with the next ones!

Quality great, using on the beach. But I can't seem to get stereo from my iPhone 4S, I get it on the phone. Any suggestions...?

I have average sized ears and enjoy ear buds for comfort. I have a pair of Atomic Floyd little buds that sound and fit wonderfully. But are too nice to wreck down the gym and fall out of the ear when running or anything very physical. So, I thought I'd get a set of these as they're waterproof, have a design to keep them in place etc.
Sound is let down by all the external noise you can still hear as they don't isolate anything whatsoever. so to drown out other people, you have to make your ears bleed with the volume. Getting the fit right has taken some getting used to also. The arm band is nice, but I can't get my arm in it and the lead is really short unless you use the extension lead which then has a big connector that bounces about the place as you run. The buttons on the mic are ok, but the mic is on the back, so all people hear is a muffled voice with loads of clothing rub. £130 for frankly a pain in the neck. Nice box though!

    Sweat Resistant

These are sold as sweat/weather resistant... Hmmm, not really. I do sweat a lot, I admit, but that is why I brought these, very disappointed, the volume/and buttons stopped working after approx 20 minutes, i.e. when they get sweat on them.
leave them to dry, and they work again, but you have to wonder, when will they stop working completely? Plus, what do you use after that initial 20 mins? Don't bother, if you sweat whilst working out. I now use my sennieser headphones, half the price, and none of the problems.
