Does the passthrough 30-pin port also work for music playback?
Would compatible accessories, e.g. docks, be able to play audio by connecting to the 30-pin port (the one that is meant for charging)?

Is ther a wireless accessory that does the same job as this one?
I have an iPad 2 and this adapter. I wondered if there was a wireless version so I can play movies on my big screen TV without balancing my ipad on the shelf.

AnswerHi Jane,
If you have good wireless internet at home (WIFI connection) your best bet is looking at the Apple TV.
A little more expensive but will play all your iTunes movies and tv shows wirelessly from the iPad, that way you can have the iPad in your lap, no balancing act required :)- Answered by Kimberley B from Lisarow

AnswerI just bought the adapter today for my iPhone 4S with iOS 6.1.3. Apparently, the AFL and Telstra have blocked the live stream to TVs, rendering the cable useless to the app. All I get when I hook it up is sound without picture. So no, you cannot stream the video to your TV any more.

Best AnswerIt is not designed for the ipad mini. This is the original 30 pin connector that fits the ipad 2, iphone 4, ipod touch 4th generation, etc. The ipad mni, iphone 5, ipod touch 5th gen and the ipad 3rd gen all have the new 'Lightening Connector'. There is a Digital AV adapter available for the 'Lightening Connector' eleswhere on this site. And, yes, that one does work with the ipad mini.
NOTE: this adapter and the Lightening Connector version allow power to be connected to the apple device while the HDMI is connected. Not all the cheaper 3rd party ones do.- Answered by Andrew L

Simple answer; Yes. But when you play the video, it only shows on the screen you have your device plugged into, not the device itself. Your device becomes sort of like a remote for the video you are watching.

Can this Apple Digital A/V cable be used to play video files tapped from a NAS (Network Access) Drive?
I am trying to find a way to play video home movies saved on a NAS drive and played on my Iphone 4 (via an app), to be viewed on a TV. I learned that just hooking a cable from the iphone to tv only plays movies saved on the internal memory of the Iphone, not from a separate drive.

What I am looking for is a way to extend the Apple Camera Kit from the iPad 3 or New ipad. Most Extension cables support Charging and syncing, but don't work with the Apple Camera Connection Kit.
