Answer
HP has Mac drivers for it on their site you can download to use with the iMac, no problem at all. It should also ask you if you want to download those drivers the first time you plug it in.

can I connect multiple monitors to my iMac

Best Answer
Yes!
The early iMac's have supported this, my mid 2007 has supported this, and it runs great to this day! There is an external monitor connection on the back of the iMac. Grab an adapter from the apple store, and you can connect a second monitor. If your iMac has thunderbolt ports, you can typically run up to 3 monitors including your iMac screen.- Answered by Gregory Z from Langley

What is the sound quality with the new MacBook Pro Retina receiving, storing and playing hi-res sound files?
Until Apple releases the new desktop (Mac Pro and Mac Mini) replacements for more permanent use in my main home Theater, I plan to buy the new MacBook Pro 15" Retina to use temporarily, replace it with one of the new desktops and use the 15" as my moveable main personal computer. For my wife, I already have a 17" MacBook Pro (2 months pre-Thunderbolt) and I use an iPad 2 for a lot of my needs/wants.
There is much info published about Retina, HDMI to receiver, enhanced Thunderbolt, USB 3.0 ports and other great features.
But, I can't find detailed info on high-resolution sound quality played from the new 15" Retina unit through a DAC to the amp/speakers. Can you help with some higher-end references?
Thank you! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I got the MBP with retina, and can say a few things by now.
First....the sound is excellent. What is excellent? It is very high definition, excellent stereo separation, a pleasure to listen to music, films, giving a filigran picture. It does not come with bass, but what do you expect. We must remain realistic, because some laws of physics can not be overcome. So, is the sound good? It is astounding, but with little bass. In many cases we don't need the pounding. For those moments it is surprisingly good. I did not go testing. The sound quality hit me when I played some songs the first time. That good it is.
Second....the screen....all is said 1000x over.
Third....heat....I read it was a scorcher. I have it sometimes on my body, and it is less hot than my previous MPB (late 2008), no doubt about it. I once did a stress test taxing the CPU and graphics to the max, and it rapidly increased in temp. But for normal use, other than maybe top gaming (I never do) it gets only warm, never hot.
Fourth....noise...I do not hear it. Only, under the mentioned stress test did I hear the fans clearly the first time. No wonder, of course. But remember, no HDD to make a continuous whirring noise?
All in all....a marvel....but pricey. We still can't have it all in one computer, and never will, probably.- Answered by Hans Juerg K from Pointe-claire

Can you "clone" your mac onto this hard drive?
My mac is running on 10.5.8 software but I would like to update this. I have been told that to do so I need to create a backup of my computer. Could this work with this hard drive? I am afraid I will loose my programs such as Illustrator, photoshop etc...

Best Answer
Yes you can clone your Mac to this drive with the proper software. FIrst you need to make sure that the 500 gig external hard drive is big enough to transfer all of your data from your Mac. If so, you have several options.
You can use Time Machine that is included in OS 10.5, but unfortunately this is not going to clone your Mac hard drive to the new external hard drive. It saves most of your data, but it will not make a bootable drive out of the external hard drive. If you want an exact copy of the Mac hard drive, you can use SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cloner. I have used SuperDuper! for several years and coincidentally I had to use it last weekend when my MacBook Pro hard drive corrupted. You can run your Mac off of the external drive and restore your data back to the original drive in your Mac computer. There are free versions to try, and SuperDuper has a paid version with extra features. Carbon Copy Cloner does the same thing but costs a bit more. If you're interested in either of these programs, you can do a search and you can download these programs from one of the usual download sites.- Answered by William W from Hesperus

either you can upload your document to a cloud service and then retrieve them in your mac whenever you want.
And the other time saving way: get hold of a portable hard disk drive, which is both compatible with PC and mac, then copy data from your windos to mac!!

ipad or macbook pro?
Hi.
I am a college student and am about to enter grad school for accounting. My classes typically involve a lot of note taking and instead of buying spirals every semester, it would be nice to be able to bring either a portable macbook or ipad with me instead. I currently have a windows laptop that is very useful but the only problem is that a tiny piece of the housing broke and has left me with a battery compartment that does not hold the battery in place anymore (it now has duct tape to support it).
The facts:
> I have several songs and movies stored on my hp laptop as well as have it networked to my home theater which makes movie watching very convenient and nice which having said that, I am not looking to completely replace my current laptop, just something that I can lay on the couch and use or use when I am at school or work. The windows laptop will be retired to my desk
> The battery life lasts fairly decent still on my laptop but it's a pain to lug around sometimes and overheats in my lap which is annoying
> I want something that is going to be the biggest bang for my buck and something that is the most useful in terms of note taking, web & email, and games (apps)
> My brother has a macbook and he loves it but again, I don't know which one is better for my situation. Also he can download apps and I don't know if those are similar to the apps an iPad has or not
> I just bought an iPhone 5 in october and LOVE IT...a lot of forums similar to my situation mentioned they had iphones so I guess that's relevant lol
> My parents bought me an iPad 2 for christmas so time's somewhat of a factor because if I go with a macbook pro I have so much time before I can't exchange it
Any and all feedback would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!- Asked by John B from Wheaton

Can I use a Mac Mini purchased in the USA, in the UK? If so can I purchase a UK power lead for it?
- Asked by Matt H from Lossiemouth
- 06-Apr-2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
I moved back to the UK last year and brought two iMacs, a MacBook Pro, an iPod Touch and an iPad with me. They all support 110-240 volt power, so they work in the US and the UK. Good for Apple. I didn't buy power cables, I either replaced the plugs, or used plug adapters. They cost about £1. The adapters let you plug a 2 or three pin US plug into it, then plug that into the UK outlet. If the Mac Mini also supports 240 volts, and I can't see why it would be the exception, you should be fine. But make sure that it does support that voltage beforehand.
