do the tips come off and if so what happens if I lose one - do I need to get the manufacturer to replace?

    The tips are meant to come off; the earphones come with multiple tips in different sizes. If you happen to lose the ones that fit you, replacements can be ordered from Klipsch for relatively cheap.
