Can I use an older Time Capsule as an external hard drive (for iTunes media) and have it back up to a new TC via Time Machine?
Currently, I have a Macbook with a nearly full hard drive. I also have a more-than-full 500GB Time Capsule.
I am thinking of buying a new 2TB Time Capsule to use with Time Machine and to serve as my wireless router.
I want to move my 250GB iTunes library off of my Macbook and onto my older TC, which I'll use as an external hard drive.
Here are my questions:
1. Will the old TC be overwhelmed as a dedicated iTunes disc?
2. Will my Macbook and my Apple TV (and a future iPad, hopefully) be able to access my iTunes library wirelessly if it is stored on the old TC?
3. Will the old TC be able to back up to the new TC wirelessly?
Are there any other issues with this plan?
I truly appreciate any advice or feedback. Thanks so much.

I ended up buying a 2TB external hard drive and connecting it to my TC. I then directed Time Machine to the new external hard drive. It has been working perfectly.
Not sure what to do with the TC space, but it's there.

I'm in exactly the same situation - I have a 500GB TC, and am thinking of getting a new 2TB TC for my ever-expanding media folder.
At the moment, my old TC is pretty much full with my iTunes folder - I have been deleting old backups of my Mac to maximise space, probably unwisely.
However, the system works well for me. My TC is certainly not overwhelmed, or at least not noticeably.
I can access all my files on the TC with ease, and frequently drop and drag between TC and Macbook with no problems. I've configured my iTunes settings so that the default folder is on my TC, but can (and have) change this back with no problems.
If I got a new TC, I think I would transfer my iTunes folder to the 2TB folder and use both old and new TC for backup which I intend to partition according to use (older and newer data). I probably won't transfer my network as I already have several AirTunes Expresses set up on my old TC and just can't be bothered reconfiguring them all. Plus, the old TC is fast enough - I doubt I'd notice the advantages of the new TC wireless network.
I am not convinced this is the most economical use of a new TC, but think I'll pretty soon be reaching the point where I'm backing up increasingly big files and think I'd benefit from a larger wireless backup drive.
Although I haven't tried it yet, I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to back up from one TC to another - although maybe others could comment?
