Does the mic work on the ipod touch 3g 8GB?

Yes, it will work with Voice Memos and apps such as shazam and skype. However, the iPod Touch 3G 8GB does not have Voice Control capability.

There is no such thing as a iPod Touch 3rd Gen it is the iPod Touch 2nd Gen Mark 2, so if it works with the 2nd gen than yes it will work.
