JBL Proprietary Innovation
JBL Spot owes its clear, accurate sound and outstanding performance characteristics to proprietary JBL technology developed specifically for the realities of multimedia sound.
- Odyssey Transducers - Aluminium domed transducers driven by powerful neodymium magnets deliver rich high and mid-frequency response
- Atlas Subwoofer - A large excursion subwoofer driven by dual neodymium magnets pounds out clean, distortion free bass
- MAPS (Minimum Audio Parameter Shift) - Volume is good, but the distortion that plagues small speakers at high volume is bad. MAPS suppresses distortion, even at the highest output levels
- COE (Computer Optimised Equalisation) - Proper equalisation greatly improves stereo imaging. The JBL Spot system is computer optimised to provide a rich, complete soundstage
- OCT (Optimised Compression Topology) - A proprietary compression technology ensures clean, accurate sound at high output levels
Touch Controls
One touch increases or decreases the volume; one touch mutes or un-mutes the system. A single control lets you adjust subwoofer output. JBL Spot even remembers your previous settings every time the system is powered on.
Compatibility
Stereo mini jack easily connects JBL Spot to a variety of multimedia devices with minimal desktop wiring. Enjoy high-quality audio from desktop and laptop computers (any platform), iPod and other MP3 players, satellite radio, game consoles - you name it.
Interchangeable Covers
The JBL Spot 2.1 Speakers are provided with two covers in the box (Metallic Red and Aluminium). So depending on your mood or surrounding, feel free to change whenever you choose!

These speakers just look absolutely futuristic and so gorgeous! The large speaker is suprisingly big too!
The bass is really powerful with crystal clear sound. I've managed to easily connect to both my Sony Bravia, iPod classic and my macbook displaying equally fabulously deep and concise sound.
Only problem I found was when changing the covers. As soon as I got the speakers it actually took me 15mins just to work out how to remove the covers from two of the speakers!
The small satellite speaker that you control the volume with (i.e. has a touch sensitive volume control on it which is pretty cool!) has a cover that is near-impossible to remove!? I nearly broke the thing trying to get the cover off!? I managed it in the end but could never get the new cover on, short of cracking it!
I tried emailing JBL but never got a reply, nor are there any contact numbers to use. I wouldn't even go to their official website as its useless.
In the end I had to settle with just being able to change the large speaker's (sub woofer) cover. The sound quality and the look of the machines are more than enough to compensate for this little problem.
Just be careful when you do buy it that you dont get too stressed when you find it a little difficult to change the interchangeable covers!

only had them a day but loving them so far. the bass is huge, the rest of the ranges crisp and the red just looks too cool.

I think I drove Manchester Apple store mad with my trials of speakers and then bought this one from the Apple store on the net without testing them first! i couldn't resist the cute look. I bought my MacBook cos I couldn't take any more Windows irritation and to get my hands on iTunes & GarageBand plus the freedom of using the MacBook wherever I wanted so the speakers were important and these are little beauties. Having put my CD collection onto to my MacBook I'm enjoying an eclectic playlist of Yardbirds, Cream, Herbie Hancock, Sheryl Crow etc. as I write this. Life is good if the music rocks and the quality of sound from these cute speakers is simply amazing. Well done Apple & JBL I'm so happy with my purchases. …More

Very good, but not perfect.

These are very good speakers and are worth the money but are not quite perfect. The bass is very good but if you use a bass tester off Youtube and crank up the volume you will get some distortion at the top end. Secondly, the subwoofer itself sometimes makes a strange noise, a bit like a disc drive searching for a track on a cd. It is quiet and only able to be heard when the speakers are on but not in use. However, having a Macbook Pro which is almost silent, any other noise is just a tad annoying. Thirdly, the knob to turn the bass up/down is in an awkward position around the back of the subwoofer and there is no treble knob at all. That said, the sound is very clear, the bass is very strong and I definitely won't be listening to anything on my laptop using the inbuilt speakers any more. …More
