Apple Component AV Cable
Doesnt need to be digital or a HDTV
Written by GH from KIDLINGTON

This cable works with any tv with a component (Red, Green, Blue) connection. This type of connection is entirely analog. whether you need a HD or SD tv depends on the ipod your using, for instance the iPod Classic outputs 480p therefore a HDTV is required, but an iPod Touch uses 480i which will work on a standard definition tv.
Check your tv for the component connections (most hdtv's have them) and whether your tv supports the type of picture given by your ipod, (480i or 480p). p.s all tvs support 480i (576i in the US). …More829 of 1286 people found this useful

Apple Component AV Cable
Simple
Written by DT from Manchester
06-Nov-2007
Picture Quality - Great
Soud Quality - Great
Extra Charger Block - Good extra
Remember - Only works with a HD TV so if you dont have one, dont buy it, simple as that.
Music - Works perfectley with any Stereo
But - First check the back of you HD TV if it has component plugs (Red, Green and Blue for pic) then the Red and White for sound, it will work, if you HD TV has a VGA, DVI or HDMi input it wont, but if it has the Red and White for sound you will be able to play sound but not picture. There is still hope in the form of converters to convert component to, VGA, HDMi or DVI. …More672 of 1105 people found this useful

Apple Component AV Cable
For Digital Televisions only!
Written by IR from Selsdon
10-Oct-2007
I bought myself a 160gb Apple ipod classic and after finding out the Av cable I has didn’t work for the classic I was advised to buy this cable.
This one however only works on digital televisions, notice the different colours of the ports (red, blue and green). Rather than the Red, yellow and white that you usually have.
Check you own TV first to make sure that it is compatible.

Apple Component AV Cable
Good, but!
Written by IH from Leeds
19-Jun-2009
Works well on video, but be aware that some tv's do not support sound without a video signal, so you may not be able to play music without playing a slide show. Not the fault of the cable, but the way the tv is designed.
Not made clear in the instructions, I had to search the net to be sure. …More18 of 27 people found this useful

Can I use this cable to plug my iPhone 3GS into a standard definition TV?
- Asked by ED from San Jose

Best Answer
I am pretty sure the answer is no. It appears that all the current iPhone/iPod devices output 480p (progressive) to the Component outputs. Most standard definition TV's only accept 480i (interlaced) signals. This mismatch (sending a 480p signal to a 480i TV) causes the video signal to appear 'scrambled' on your TV. The Composite cable should work fine. …More
