Apple Mouse
It’s the wired mouse that reinvents the wheel - the scroll wheel. The Apple Mouse features the amazing Scroll Ball that lets you move anywhere inside a document, literally without lifting a finger. And with touch-sensitive technology concealed under the seamless top shell, you can choose either the versatility of a four-button mouse or the simplicity of a single-button beauty.

READ THIS if scrollwheel not working
Written by NT from Charlbury

OK, granted, there is a flaw in the design of this mouse, but I bet 90% of mice problems can be solved like this:
1. unplug the mouse from the keyboard
2. turn it upside down
3. roll the scrollwheel in all directions on a blank (clean) piece of paper, in all directions, for 60 seconds
4. re-attach
bingo! works every time. this is a good mouse in both OS X and Windows, I have used it for gaming and is excellent for browsing large webpages or large documents, with its 360 degree scrollwheel. although at times i want to get away from the mouse/keyboard combo (it is 2008 now, after all), at least this Mighty Mouse lessens the pain somewhat. …More595 of 732 people found this useful

scroll wheel problems
Written by SM from NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE

I like Apple products but I'm very unhappy with the scroll wheel problem on the so-called "Mighty" Mouse. I found that within a few months of getting my new iMac I lost use of vertical scrolling on the mouse and had it replaced. A couple of months further on and the same problem has occurred with the replacement. The 360 degree scrolling capability is a nice idea, but it has been poorly implemented. …More

Scroll ball clogs
Written by SR from BRISTOL
16-Oct-2007
Works fine for a couple of months, then the scroll ball clogs up. You then need to crack it open with a screwdriver (forcing open not unscrewing), unscrew the scroll ball assembly, clean the minute rollers, put it all back together and super glue the base back on.
Repeat this routine every 2 months (I've done it at least a dozen times). Helpful technical support people suggested buying a new one when I complained, and then put the phone down when I pointed out that this was rather an expensive option. …More326 of 517 people found this useful

DeadMouse

I too have had problems with my scroll wheel after a couple of months. Would not scroll up, only down. After checking forums I have found this useful bit of information:
1) Unplug the mouse
2) Get a paper towel and dampen it.
3) Flip the mouse upside down and roll the ball on the damp papertowel, going up and down, side to side and in circles. Do this for a bit. Applying a slight amount of pressure
4) Take a plain sheet of paper, and on a hard surface do the same thing that you did to the papertowel. Applying a slight amount of pressure.
5) Plug it back in and test it.
This worked for me, and apparently with applecare your mouse will be covered anyway. …More5 of 5 people found this useful
