    Almost certainly the best...

    • Written by from Cheshire

I use a bluetooth headset a lot - both for calling and listening to podcasts. I saw this one but thought it was expensive so ended up buying several others and being disappointed before then buying this (so costing me more time and money in the process). It's not that the others are 'bad' but they were just not as comfortable for extended use and the sound quality just not as good.

The others I bought were typically more 'premium' models like the Plantronics Voyager Pro HD (comfortable, bit bulky and sound not as good), Jabra Surpreme (the one I would rate as number 2 to the Bose - Jabra Bluetooth Wave (ok found sound but just did not fit all that well) and a Motorola HX550 (good sound but did not fit as well). Think I also looked at a Jawbone but it only supported voice not sound for music / podcasts etc.

Overall the Bose won - it's small, best sound (both for calls and podcasts / music) and most comfortable. Yes it's the most expensive (about twice the price of most of those listed) but if you use it a lot it's worth it.

    Bose Bluetooth series 2

    • Written by from London

I just want to share my experience with you regarding my recent purchase of the Bose Bluetooth Series 2 headset.

As a iPhone 4s owner I need to be completely hands free while on the phone as I need to accesses information on the phone while talking and more so when driving. I have been through dozens of bluetooths over the years, and only buy high end gear such as Jawbone Era, Jabra Stone 2 and Plantronics.

Had them all but not all met my expectation as a hardcore user, the Jawbone had great style but as I wear specticles I was unable unable to use the ear hook supplied and the rubber earbuds made my ear sore after 15 minutes of use and the sensor nib pressed on my cheeks and made it sore after a while. The Jabra was discreet but sound quality and battery life was terrible even though it had a charging stone, again this has to go over the ear and compromised my wearability as I wear glasses. The Plantronics had good sound quality but was heavy I looked pretty redicoulous walking down the street, makes me look TREKKIE!

But now I bought the Bose and WOW!, amazing sound quality on conversation sensational when listening to music and I'm a big R&B fan, It blows any other headset I have ever owned full stop! Build quality is great and foremost the ear fitting is so comfortable you hardly notice you are wearing it and because it's also so light.

My only negative comment would be if it was able to have caller ID like the Jawbone to let me know who is calling on my contact list and a battery meter on the iPhone and that would be the worlds perfect Bluetooth headset regardless of price.

I hope Bose address this issue on future updates or future replacement models.

This is the easiest piece of equipment to use. Once you have paired it with your phone - it takes seconds - its ready to go. Simply press once to dial and once to switch off. It never fails. Sound quality excellent from both ends. Worth every penny. More

Head & shoulders above all others!!!!

    • Written by from Romford

Quite simply the best out there, tried many others but never happy, only downfall is the relatively short battery life, but more than makes up for it with excellent sound quality! Very comfortable to use, hardly notice it is there, even hours later! Makes using a headset a pleasure! More

  • Will it work on an iPad 4?

Yes. The Bose Bluetooth ear piece Series 2 will work with all features of iPhone 4S and it does sound great. I've had mine now for 2 years. HOWEVER I've had consistent connection problems: the Bose will drop the connection to my iPhone 4S many times throughout any given day. It almost always takes several tries to get the Bose to be recognized by iPhone and even after it says it's connected the A2DP will not always work — I then have turn it off and try again or restart iPhone to get A2DP audio. Lastly the connection to iPhone is frequently knocked out by my airport extreme network as well as my MacPro 8-Core  built-in bluetooth (I use bluetooth mouse & keyboard) or even an outside source (like a passing taxi sending a dispatch signal). If I turn wi-fi off on iPhone, using only cellular then the problem is lessoned. This is all extremely frustrating, time consuming and continues to get worse. This is only offset by the fact that when it does work — it sounds great, really great plus the convenience & freedom from earphones with cords is priceless - you'll never want to use regular earphones again.

    P. S. these same problems are NOT experienced when using the Bose with iPad — the Bose performs flawlessly including A2DP audio with no trouble connecting to iPad and no spontaneous disconnects — which makes me think it's the iPhone 4S and not the Bose.

My recommendation: make sure you can return if not satisfied. Or, also take a look at the BlueAnt Q2, an excellent product also with A2DP. I owned an earlier model BlueAnt without A2DP…the only feature it was missing - its still performing perfectly and even the older BlueAnt has features the Bose Series 2 is still missing.

Works great when you talk on the phone, but I have found that it does not play well with Siri.

When I ask Siri to call someone while i am on the headset, she NEVER gets the name right. When I turn off the headset and make the same request via the phone mic, Siri is 99% accurate.

I am assuming that's because the headset is not accurately rendering what I am asking.

It really is too bad because I find myself turning off the headset, asking Siri to place a call and once she is placing the call, I turn the headset back on.

The Bose Bluetooth isolates all sound to your earpiece. If I want to also "hear" an alert from my iPhone device, I set it to Vibrate. With Vibrate On I can hear and/or feel the soft vibration alert if I'm not wearing my earpiece. The Bose tech is wrong, as far as I know, there is no other Apple iOS specific setting to by-pass the earpiece when Bluetooth is On and the Bose headset is selected. Bose does not supply any software or App for the earpiece.

If someone knows differently I'd like to know too.
