    Superb

The Klipsch Image S4i offer a fantastic package. These are superb in ear earphones, a world apart from other products such as the Sennheiser CX series and other in-ear sets. The S4i takes the professional high-end level audio Klipsch have developed for years and puts them into an affordable package. Where these differ from other in-ear sets I've used before is the actual earbud. Whilst all other products come with cylindrical earbuds, these are conical, with only a very small opening in the end. They are designed to fit right into your ear canal, to form a perfect seal, delivering excellent clarity in the mid and high ranges as well as a solid, but not overpowering bass.

When using with the microphone, speech is clear and crisp. The fact that these are noise isolation make these the perfect addition for your iPhone. Whilst they may seem expensive at first sight, the build quality and the superior sound make these an essential for any iPhone user.

    Very Good

Bought to replace a pair of sennheiser CX95 that were starting to fall apart. So far the sound is as good as the sennheisers, although the bass is a bit more zealous. The only drawback are the rubber earbuds, the size difference between the medium and large is big and has left me looking for some alternatives that actually fit me better. More

    excellent

I heartily agree with the reviewer from Glasgow. I bought these for my iPhone as I couldn't get on with the earphones supplied. I have previously used Sennheiser in ear headphones (with an iPod) which cost me around the £55 mark a couple of years ago. Although I liked the sound quality of the music on those, the echoing sounds the wires made against my clothing used to annoy me; alright for sitting perfectly still but unpleasantly distracting if you're walking to work in the wind. These Klipsch S4i earphones are a huge improvement on the Sennheisers. Now I have great sound quality, a really comfortable fit, no annoying inner ear echoing noises - none whatsoever, and full functionality with my iPhone. Plus you get a nice little bag to keep them in, a cleaning tool, and a selection of different size ear buds. I will be buying some for my husband for Christmas unless he can't wait that long now that he has tried mine. More

At a pair of in-ear headphones that aren't rubbish

    Written by CE from ACCRINGTON

    23-Oct-2009

I bought a pair of these having bought a pair of atomic floyds (having read all the reviews) and then being totally disappointed with them. I had previously used Senheisser CX400 II and like these but wanted the benefit of the remote and volume switches for the Ipone.

In short they are great, they are comfortable, the plugs fit my odd shaped lug holes (large outer ear but very narrow ear canal - means that normally headphones sound tinny and always fall out).

The phones take a little bit of fiddling with to get the bass sound right, I founf putting them in and then twisting them slightly so the wire points straight down was the best position.

The sound is crystal clear right through the audible spectrum without distorting or sounding un-natural - they give vastly better reproduction of sound than the sennheisers.

The remote is a doddle to use and callers have said I sound clear.
The other thing is that the noise cancelling, albeit passive, is very good and easily on a par with the sennheisers.

The only complaint I have is that the wire seems very thin and time will tell if it lasts, but they do come with the apple 12 month gurarantee and Klipse offer another year.

So in short, good looking, well designed headphones that sound great and do exactly what they say the will. Hallelujah!

Excellent sound, but poor build quality

    Written by JR from Walsall

    19-Oct-2009

After reading other reviews regarding the 'tinny' sound from these headphones, I experienced this when I first tried them out - but soon discovered that this was due to a poor fit from the ear plugs. Get a good fit, and the sound quality is superb. This may be problem for those that struggle with in-ear headphones - as you have to push them right in to get the effect.

As for the 'hiss' - well, that's a common problem on the iPhone and the MacBook Pro is particularly bad - it's just that these headphones return the full range of frequencies of the device into which they're plugged - good and bad.

So, great sound quality and brilliant functionality of the remote on my 3GS (one feature I really like), but for £90 - I was expecting a little more from the build quality. Honestly, they feel flimsy and easily breakable. Considering you can buy headphones for about half the price which have double bound joints and chord protected wires - they're a bit, well, shoddy.

    Sent them back

    Written by TM

How disappointed I was after having decided to try my first non-Apple headphones. I can't really understand the previous high ratings for this product especially as it seems to be an Apple 'staff pick'.
The sound can only be described as 'tinny' at best and a very audible 'hiss' can be heard at the higher volume on quieter songs. The bass is virtually non-existent. I even conducted a same song, side-by-side comparison to the standard Apple headphones and the Apple headphones produced 'warmer' overall sound and had a more powerful bass response.
The in-ear design can also become intrusive for those not used to this design although this may not be such a big issue for other users.
I think I will look for some decent 'on-ear' headphones now or perhaps revert to the tried and tested Apple standards.
