  • Use the Lightning to VGA Adapter with your iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, iPhone 5 and iPod touch (5th generation) with Lightning connector. The Lightning to VGA Adapter supports mirroring of what is displayed on your device screen — including apps, presentations, websites, slideshows and more — to your VGA-equipped TV, display, projector or other compatible display in up to 1080p HD.

    It also outputs video content — films, TV programmes, captured video — to your big screen in up to 1080p HD. Simply attach the Lightning to VGA Adapter to the Lightning connector on your device and then to your TV or projector via a VGA cable (sold separately).

    What it doesn't tell you, and the reason I bought it, is that it WON'T work with movies bought / rented from the iTunes Store. It What it doesn't tell you, and the reason I bought it, is that it WON'T work with movies bought / rented from the iTunes Store. It comes up with a message (in my case in an iPad Mini) to the effect that the film cannot be played because the attached display isn't authorised to view "protected" films. It DOES work though with downloads from BBC iPlayer.

    Bought this on the way to a short notice public meeting. I had only bought my iPad Air a couple of weeks before the meeting and h Bought this on the way to a short notice public meeting. I had only bought my iPad Air a couple of weeks before the meeting and had no idea what I would find at the meeting as a projector. So fingers crossed and flip chart as a back up. Needn't have worried! Simple plug in and test five minutes before the meeting was due to start and the Keynote presentation went effortlessly (can't guarantee that the content was as good!)

    Fine until the iOS 8 update, now useless on iPad air and iPhone 5s.
