Superb!
Great quality product, cigarette adapter is tiny and fits snugly in the cigarette lighter socket. Will charge two devices simultan eously, although there is only one cable supplied. I leave it permanently in the socket as the socket is not powered when the key is removed from the ignition switch. It's so good I have bought 3 more for family and friends !!! …

Just received this in car charger. It does charge the iPhone 4s, but I found it very difficult to push the charger into the cigare tte lighter of the car. It was also no snug that it was even more difficult to remove. …

Car charger
Received today and works straight out of the box. It indicates to charge only one idevice at a time and using the other port for a nother device but I plugged two iPhones in to charge simultaneously and it worked, albeit the charging was a little slower. I haven't tried my iPad yet but worked fine for my iPhone 5 and iPhone 3GS. Recommended. …

The best charger I have bought so far.
I bought this for an iPhone 4s, and came to the Apple Store because I thought that chargers sold here should be OK for Apple produ cts.
As one reviewer has said, this charger is a tight fit to the socket, but I'd rather have that than it flopping about and losing contact.
The whole feel of this charger is much higher quality than the PowerGen charger I had before, which worked for only a short while before giving up.
That was a cheap Amazon purchase - never again....
I would recommend this to iPhone users. It feels solid and works really well.
Also the cable that is supplied with it is excellent quality. …- Written by Richard N from Consett

Answer
The product specifications note that the power input is from a car and 12v so I'd *assume* you can s afely plug into the cigarette spot. That's what I plan on doing at least. …

will this work with iPhone 5 using the Apple lightning cable?
- Asked by Robert H from Rochester Hills
- 29-Sep-2012
Answer
Should do, yes, all these chargers produce 5v, reduced down from the 12v car supply. The Lightning C able has a USB connector on one end and the Lightning connector on the other. The USB standard stipulates that power is transmitted at 5v so using the Lightning cable plugged into this charger should be fine. I'm getting one anyway for an iPhone 5... …

Apple specs say the charger output is 10W per channel but the mfg website spec says 5.1A total. Which is it?

Answer
I think your getting Watts and Amps confused. A 10 Watt power charger running at 5 Volts output will have a current of 2 Amps. IPads seem to need at least 5 Watts of power output ie 1 amp and the Supplied Chargers produce 10 Watts ie 2 amps, but my IPad 3 will charge(but more slowly) from my IPhone charger which is only 5 Watts. A lot of 3rd party chargers especially 12 Volt input car chargers do not produce enough current to give that 5-10 Watts ie they are below 1 amp current rating. Hence a lot of these show "not charging" or "charging not supported " for iPads. This also applies to a lot of computer USB Outputs which although they are 5 Volts output do not have enough current rating to produce the needed 5-10 Watts power output.
I would be surprised if the Griffen was rated at 5 Amps output as this would mean it was a 25 Watt charger which would be a large power output for most cigarette lighter based chargers. Most of these dual output car chargers have one outlet with 2Amps/10Watts (iPad) and 1Amp/5Watts or less (iPhone). The problem is that I doubt BOTH outputs will be able to produce enough Watts to charge 2 IPads at once. But you will only get the real answer from Griffin themselves not Apple . …- Answered by Clive B
